HONOLULU - (FS Media Relations) The Fresno State baseball team came from two runs down and scored four runs in the eighth inning to earn a 5-3 victory over Hawai'i Friday night at Les Murakami Stadium in Honolulu.
After seeing Hawai'i rally for a big inning in the series opener, Fresno State (15-15, 1-1 WAC) came out Friday night with a big 8th inning of their own, picking up its first WAC win.
"We played outstanding defense tonight," Head Coach Mike Batesole said. "We hung around and came through when we had the opportunity."

New Mexico State 13, Nevada 6
LAS CRUCES, N.M. - (NMSU Media Relations) The New Mexico State baseball team broke its seven-game losing streak to Nevada by defeating the Wolf Pack 13-6 at Presley Askew Field, Friday, April 6.
NM State evened the weekend series with the Wolf Pack and is now 24-9 on the year while both teams are 1-1 in Western Athletic Conference play. The Aggies scored their 13 runs with 11 hits and played cleaner defense than Nevada as the Wolf Pack tallied four errors on the night. Three of those errors came in the bottom of the sixth and that helped the Aggies score four runs.
After Nevada tallied a run in the first inning, the Aggies pounded out five runs on four hits with three of those runs coming on a three-run shot by junior centerfielder Kyle Phillips that hit the scoreboard in left centerfield. The Wolf Pack squeezed the lead down to two runs but NM State took a 6-3 lead in the bottom of the second when the Nevada right fielder threw the ball away.

Louisiana Tech 7, Sacramento State 5
RUSTON, La. - (LA Tech Media Relations) Ryan Gebhardt hit his first career home run as Louisiana Tech (16-14, 1-0 WAC) defeated Sacramento State (14-16, 0-1 WAC) in the Western Athletic Conference opener on Friday evening at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park.
Gebhardt's solo home run came in the second inning as the sophomore shortstop went 3-for-5 with two runs scored in the victory.
Jeb Stefan (2-5) picked up his second win of the season after pitching six innings while reigning WAC Pitcher of the Week Tanner Mendonca (4-4) was credited with the loss after allowing 11 hits and seven runs - five earned - in 4.2 innings. Caleb Dudley shut the door in the ninth inning as the junior picked up his sixth save on the year.

San Jose State 6, Pacific 2

STOCKTON, Calif. – (SJSU Media Relations) The Spartans scored five runs on three extra base hits in the third inning Friday and the bullpen shut down the Tigers for the second straight night as San Jose State defeated the University of the Pacific 6-2 at Klein Family Field.
“That inning where we scored five runs, we had a real good approach against the left-handed pitcher, some things we were really trying to do that we actually did,” said San Jose State head coach Sam Piraro, who logged his 798th career victory with Friday’s win.
The win clinched the Spartans’ first three-game series victory of the season and put them above .500 for the first time since March 12.
