DENVER – Idaho’s Stephane Colle and Ugis Svazs have been named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for the week of April 23-29.

Colle, a senior from St-Eustache, Quebec (Concordia), clocked a career-best time of 3:47.86 in the 1500-meter run on Sunday at Stanford’s Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational. His time is currently ranked second in the WAC and is the ninth-fastest all-time at Idaho.

Svazs, a sophomore from Kuldiga, Latvia (Murjanu Sport Gymnasium), took over the WAC lead in the javelin on Saturday at the Duane Hartman Invitational in Berkeley, Calif. with a career-best toss of 227 feet, five inches (69.32 meters) in the event. He was the top collegiate thrower in the competition by nearly 10 feet, and his mark is currently the best in the conference by the same margin. The mark moves Svazs into 13th in the NCAA West performance list and 26th nationally in the NCAA so far this year.

Other track nominees included: Cameron Parker, Fresno State; and Silas Pimentel, Utah State.

Other field nominees included: Roderick Dash, Fresno State; and Dallas Singley, Utah State.
