DENVER--After finishing the WAC regular season with identical 11-7 records, New Mexico State, Sacramento State and Nevada each claim a share of the 2012 WAC regular season title. The title marks the first-ever regular season baseball championship for each team.

The New Mexico State baseball team earned a share of the regular season WAC title with a 15-2 win over San Jose State, Sunday afternoon, in seven innings of play. This is the Aggies’ first regular season WAC title in school history and the program’s first conference title since 2002.

The Aggies finish the regular season at 35-20 and 11-7 in WAC play. NM State shares the regular season title with Sacramento State and Nevada.

After Hawai'i's win over Nevada on Saturday night, the Sacramento State baseball team clinched its first WAC championship in school history.

Sacramento State finished in last place with just six conference wins in 2011. The Hornets join Cornell as the only teams in the nation to go from last a season ago to first place this year.

Nevada had to play extra innings to earn a share of the 2012 WAC Championship on Friday night at Les Murakami Stadium defeating Hawai`i  4-2 in 10 innings.  With the victory the Wolf Pack assured itself of a share of their first WAC baseball title.

NM State enters the 2012 WAC Baseball Championships, May 23-27, in Mesa, Ariz., as the No. 1 seed, followed by Sacramento State as the No. 2 seed and Nevada at No. 3.
