DENVER - The U.S.
Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's latest regional
rankings feature four Western Athletic Conference schools. With the WAC cross
country schedule idle, UTSA, UT Arlington, Utah State and New Mexico State continue to remain among the top 15 teams in their respective regions.
In the South Central Region, UTSA begins the week ranked
eighth for the third consecutive week in the men's poll. The UTSA women hold steady
as the sixth ranked team in the region. UT Arlington remained 11th
in the men's poll for the second week in a row. The Maverick women fell this
week from 14th to 15th in the South Central Region.
The Utah State men hold steady as the 10th ranked squad in
the Mountain Region. The Aggie women come in this week as the 14th team in the
Mountain Region, dropping one spot from their previous ranking. New Mexico
State continues as the 13th ranked men's team in the Mountain Region rankings. The
NMSU women received the ninth overall ranking for the second consecutive week.
USTFCCCA Regional Cross Country Rankings are determined
subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional
representative is tasked with weighing returning team strength with
current-season results in determining predicted team finishes at the NCAA
Regional Championships.
