Utah State 3, Louisiana Tech 1
Three players in double-digit kills paced Utah State to a 3-1 (25-18,
25-16, 22-25, 25-23) win over Louisiana Tech in WAC action Thursday
night at LA Tech's Thomas Assembly Center. WIth the win, the Aggie
improve to 9-5 overall and 4-1 in WAC. The Lady Techsters fall to 3-13
overall and 0-4 in WAC play.
The Aggies hit .221 for the match and held the Lady Techsters had an
.083 hitting percentage. Utah State recorded 13 total team blocks.
Shay Sorensen logged her sixth double-double of the season with a
match-high 14 kills to go with 17 digs. Josselyn White also posted a
double-double, her fourth of the season, with 10 kills and a career-high
20 digs, while Rachel Orr notched 13 kills. Paige Neves recorded her
fifth double-double of the season with a match-high 48 assists and 11
digs. Ashlan Rogers logged 17 digs.
LA Tech was led by Fenix Calderon with 10 kills and added 15 digs.
Caitlin Germany tallied five blocks, Maria Coelho dished out 32 assists
and Ana Rodrigues notched 19 digs.
UTSA 3, Seattle U 1
UTSA won its fourth straight match, defeating Seattle U in four sets (25-20, 23-25, 30-28, 25-23) Thursday night at the Connolly Center. With the win, the Roadrunners improve to 10-4 overall and 3-1 in the WAC. The Redhawks drop to 6-9 on the season and 1-4 in WAC play.
UTSA out-hit Seattle U .215 to.136 in the contest. The Roadrunners also had more kills (58-53), assists (57-49), digs (88-87) and blocks (9-6.5).
McKenzie Adams posted 23 digs and 20 kills for her ninth double-double of the season, while Whitney Walls added 13 kills. Brandy Huskey dished out 48 assists and Annie Kunes collected 22 digs and four service aces.
Kaytlyn Dill posted a match-high 22 kills, while Lanie Beadle pulled in 20 digs for Seattle U.
Idaho 3, Texas State 2
After dominating the first two sets, Idaho held on to beat Texas State
3-2 (25-14, 25-13, 23-25, 21-25, 15-8) Thursday night in Memorial Gym.
The Vandals improve to 5-10 on the season and 3-2 in WAC play with the
win, while Texas State falls to 6-9 overall and 1-3 in the WAC.
Idaho hit .301 on the match, its second-highest hitting percentage of
the season, and held the Bobcats to .170. The Vandals also held a 66-62
advantage in digs and out-blocked Texas State 10-7.
Allison (Walker) Baker led the Vandals with 19 kills and 12 digs for her
10th double-double of the season, while Katelyn Peterson had 14. Alyssa
Schultz finished with 13 kills on .500 hitting and Alex Sele had 10
kills on .600 hitting. Jenny Feicht had 41 assists and seven digs, while
Janelle Chow led Idaho with 20 digs.
Texas State was led by Amari Deardorff with 18 kills, followed by
Alexandra Simms with 14 and Morgan McDaniel with 12. Laura Whalen had a
match-high 21 digs.
UT Arlington 3, San Jose State 1
UT Arlington picked up a four-set win (25-21, 25-23, 22-25, 25-20) over San Jose State in WAC action Thursday night. With the win, the Mavericks improve to 6-10 on the season and 2-2 in WAC play. The Spartans drop to 6-9 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
UTA out-hit San Jose State .266 to .149. The Mavericks also had more kills (61-53), assists (57-52) and digs (79-66). The Spartans posted more blocks (8-7) and service aces (5-3) than UTA.
Shelby Dickson led all players with 20 kills and added 24 digs for her eighth double-double of the season. Taylor Gross added 11 kills, Charmaine Whitmore finished with 12 and Ashley Bennett tallied 10.
San Jose State was led by Mary Alice O'Reilly, who finished with 15 kills and 11 digs. Michaela Leonard posted a double-double of 47 assists and 11 digs.
