WAC TEAM-BY-TEAM NOTES

Idaho Vandals  
The 2013 Vandal indoor slate includes several meets in the Pacific Northwest and three weekends of home meets at the Kibbie Dome ... Idaho's men open their season as the defending Western Athletic Conference champions, while the Vandal women will look to break through for their first indoor track and field title ... Vandal track and field makes its debut on the weekend of Jan. 11-12, when they cross the border for the WSU Open at Pullman, Wash. ...  Idaho will also compete at Washington State on Jan. 25-26 at the Cougar Indoor ... the first of Idaho's three home meets will be the weekend of Jan. 19-20 with the Idaho Collegiate I and Idaho Open I. 

Louisiana Tech Bulldogs
The Louisiana Tech men are coming off a fourth-place finish at the WAC Championships last season ... The Lady Techsters are looking to better their third-place finish at the WAC Championships.  

New Mexico State Aggies
The Aggies track and field team concluded 2012 in the WAC with a sixth-place finish ... three NMSU athletes took home individual victories in the 400m, javelin throw and the heptathlon at the WAC Championships... four Aggies competed in the NCAA Championships ... LaSasha Aldredge returns in 2013 leading the Aggies after finishing 30th in the 400m at the NCAA Championships ... junior Alishia Perkins also ran in the 200m for NMSU at the NCAA meet. 

Seattle University Redhawks
The Redhawks are set to open their first season in the WAC on Jan. 12 as they will compete at the UW Indoor Preview ... Seattle U will compete entirely in the state of Washington prepping for the WAC Championships in Albuquerque, N.M. (Feb. 21-23) ... 2012 WAC Cross Country Individual Champion Erik Barkhaus will lead the Readhawks ... the senior placed second in the 3000m at least season Great West Conference Championship ... for the women junior Hannah Mittelstaedt will look to better her second-place finish in the 5000m at the 2012 GWC Championships.  

University of Texas at Arlington Mavericks  
UTA begins ranked 26th nationally in the preseason poll and are second-highest ranked school from a non-BCS automatic qualifying conference (Northern Arizona, No. 21) ... the men sport three All-Americans on the team ...  senior Romain Martin (heptathlon), junior Clayton Vaughn (60m) and junior transfer Bozidar Antunovic (shot put) ... finished last indoor season in a tie for 26th place at the NCAA Championships with eight points ... the women return senior Shannon Reynolds who tied for High Points Scorer honors at the Southland Conference Indoor Championships in 2012 ... the women's 40 person roster includes just six seniors.

UTSA Roadrunners 
The UTSA  men opened its indoor campaign with six individual victories and a program record in the pole vault en route to a runner-up showing at the three-team Texas A&M Reveille Invitational on Dec. 8 ... Taylor Reed extended his school record in the pole vault with a winning clearance of 17-0 ¾ (5.20m) ... All-American Richard Garrett Jr. opened his senior season with a golden performance in the shot put and fellow All-American Keyunta Hayes started his junior year with a gold medal in the 60m hurdles ... UTSA opened its indoor season with a runner-up performance at the three-team Texas A&M Reveille Invitational ... Zaquita McClanahan registered a pair of career bests in the field, including an extension of her school record in the shot put.

Texas State Bobcats
Texas State kicks off their first season in the WAC at the Texas 12-Team Invitational on Jan. 12 at College Station, Texas ... The Bobcats travel to Houston, Lubbock and College Station twice this season before heading to Albuquerque, N.M., for the WAC Championships ... the men will be led by six seniors this season including 2012 Southland Conference silver medalist in the 60m and 60m hurdles, Timothy Young ... the women's roster boasts nine seniors including 2012 SLC gold medalist in the shot put, Kelsey Titzman.  

Utah State Aggies
The Utah State men's track and field team returns two 2012 NCAA participants in sophomore Nic Bowens and junior Bryce Hall ... junior Kyle McKenna looks to lead the USU distance events after having his most successful cross country season in which he placed 26th (30:53.1) at the NCAA Mountain Region Championships ... the Utah State women return four individual WAC event champions who helped lead the Aggies to their first WAC indoor and outdoor titles in 2012 ... Bailee Whitworth, who won the 2012 indoor 4x400m relay, was the lone Aggie representative at the 2012 NCAA meet returns as a senior for the 2012 campaign.  

WAC CHAMPIONSHIP
The 2013 WAC Indoor Track & Field Championships travel to Albuquerque, N.M. This year's championships will be hosted by the WAC and will take place at the Albuquerque Convention Center beginning Feb. 21 and running through Feb. 23. The Idaho men and Utah State women claimed the championships last year.

NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2013 Indoor Track & Field National Championships once again travels to Fayetteville, Ark. All events will be held at the Randal Tyson Track Center.
