New Mexico State 83, Seattle U 82 (2OT)


SEATTLE
(NMSU Media Relations)-The New Mexico State men's basketball team recorded its first WAC road win with an 83-82 victory in double overtime at Seattle. Senior forward Tyrone Watson scored a career-high 26 points.

This was the first multiple overtime game for the Aggies (9-8, 3-2 WAC) since the triple overtime thriller against Boise State in the 2008 WAC Championship game.

Senior forward Bandja Sy contributed 23 points including a 3-pointer with seven seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game at 67-67 to force the first overtime.

The Aggies came out and scored the first six points of the extra period with the seniors taking command. With three miscues in the final 42 seconds, Seattle took advantage and forced double overtime, 73-73.

Louisiana Tech 84, Texas State 67



SAN MARCOS, Texas -(LT Media Relations) Louisiana Tech had 11 different players score, led by guard Cordarius Johnson with 17, as the Bulldogs took down Texas State 84-67 on Thursday night at Strahan Coliseum.

The victory marked LA Tech's fifth straight and improved their overall record to 13-3 and a perfect 4-0 in WAC play. The loss is the eighth straight for the Bobcats as they fell to 4-13 on the season and 0-5 in the WAC.

Both teams started off cold from the field, shooting a combined 2-for-13 with the score knotted up 2-2 four minutes into the contest.

The Bulldogs then went on a quick 10-0 run sparked by guard Brandon Gibson's lay-in off one of the team's 19 offensive rebounds of the game.

Head coach Michael White went to his deep bench early and often and the Bulldogs continued to attack the glass throughout the entire game, outrebounding the Bobcats 54-32 and putting in 23 second chance points.

UT Arlington 75, UTSA 67


SAN ANTONIO, Texas –(UTA Media Relations) Jordan Reves' season-high 21 points helped UT Arlington snap a three-game losing in Thursday night's 75-67 Western Athletic Conference victory over UTSA at the Convocation Center.

The Mavericks led wire to wire in improving to 7-6 overall and 2-2 in the WAC. UT Arlington scored its most points since its 81-47 win over Houston Baptist on Dec. 13.

The Mavericks raced out of the gates, taking a 19-4 lead on sophomore guard Jamel Outler's 4-point play eight minutes into the game. Reves was especially active inside, scoring eight of UT Arlington's first 15 points and 17 points in the first half. The senior center added eight rebounds on the night.

"Jordan Reves was phenomenal. He really got it going," UT Arlington coach Scott Cross said. "The guys were awesome tonight. I knew it was a matter of time before we got it going offensively."

Denver 55, Idaho 49



MOSCOW, Idaho
-(DU Media Relations) University of Denver senior guard Chase Hallam (Mesquite, Texas) scored 14 points, including eight in the final 3:20, to lead the Pioneers to a 55-49 win over Idaho on Thursday night.

In a game that featured seven ties and 11 lead changes, Denver (8-7, 4-1 WAC) shot just 43.2 percent (19-of-44) from the field and 27.8 percent (5-of-18) from three-point range.

However, the Pioneers played suffocating defense and forced 18 turnovers by Idaho (6-8, 2-2 WAC), including four steals by Hallam which moved him into second place on DU's all-time steals list with 167 in his career, and hit 12-of-13 (92.3 percent) from the free throw line.
