Seattle U Defeats Denver, Remains Unbeaten in WAC Play

Seattle U extended its winning streak to five games and remained the only unbeaten team in WAC play with a 69-66 win at Denver Sunday. With the win, the Redhawks improve to 8-6 overall and 5-0 in the WAC. The Pioneers drop to 8-9 on the season and 3-3 in WAC play.

Seattle U shot 43 percent from the field, 39 percent from three-point range and 71 percent from the free throw line on the game. Denver connected on 45 percent from the field, 42 percent from downtown and 89 percent from the charity stripe. The Redhawks edged the Pioneers on the boards, 35-34, and forced 17 Denver turnovers.

Sylvia Shephard led Seattle U with 21 ponts and nine rebounds. Ashley Ward added 15 points and six assists, while Kacie Sowell had 10 points and eight rebounds.

Morgan Van Riper-Rose paced Denver with 21 points, while Kailey Edwards added 16 points. Emiko Smith posted a double-double of 10 points and 10 assists.
