UT Arlington 91, Texas State 74


SAN MARCOS, Texas – (UTA Media Relations) Karol Gruszecki led a balanced attack as UT Arlington raced past Texas State 91-74 Saturday afternoon at Strahan Coliseum.

The Mavericks improved to 8-6 overall and 3-2 in the Western Athletic Conference after a two-game road sweep against longtime rivals. UT Arlington, 6-2 on the road, won 75-67 at UTSA on Thursday.

"This road trip was exactly what we needed," UT Arlington coach Scott Cross said. "We were able to find our offense."

Gruszecki, a senior, knocked down seven 3-pointers and scored 23 to set career highs in both categories. All five starters scored in double figures for the Mavericks for the first time this season.

Denver 64, Seattle U 51


SEATTLE, Wash. - (DU Media Relations) University of Denver senior guard Chase Hallam (Mesquite, Texas) scored a game-high 17 points, including a career-high five three-pointers, leading the Pioneers to a 64-51 victory over Seattle on Saturday afternoon.

Junior forward Chris Udofia (Irving, Texas) added 15 points, six assists and three blocks, while sophomore Royce O'Neale (Killeen, Texas) added nine points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Freshman guard Jalen Love (Wichita, Kan.) set a new career-high with 11 points.

Louisiana Tech 73, UTSA 71


SAN ANTONIO, Texas - (LA Tech Media Relations) Guard Kenyon McNeail made his record-setting ninth three-pointer of the game with 19 seconds remaining in the contest to give Louisiana Tech (14-3, 5-0 WAC) the lead and the victory, 73-71, over UTSA (4-12, 0-6 WAC) on Saturday night at the Convocation Center.

With the victory, the Bulldogs completed a sweep in Texas which marks the first time since the 2001-02 season that they have won three straight road conference games. The loss was the Roadrunners sixth straight.

"I'm proud of the way we played in terms of intensity and in terms of fight," said head coach Michael White. "UTSA played great. Really credit them and their terrific game plan. We gave it our all out there. It was a game that we never really found a flow offensively or defensively outside of Kenyon McNeail."

McNeail poured in a career-high 34 points off the bench, including 9-of-15 from beyond the arc, tying the all-time Bulldog record for most made three's in a game and breaking the all-time record for most attempted.

New Mexico State 71, Idaho 70


MOSCOW, Idaho (NMSU Media Relations)-The New Mexico State men's basketball team escaped Idaho with a 71-70 win after sophomore guard Daniel Mullings hit a free throw with 3.5 seconds remaining in regulation. The Aggies improved to 10-8 and 4-2 in the WAC, while the Vandals fell to 6-9 and 2-3 in league play.

With the game tied, 70-70, with 3.5 seconds left, Mullings was fouled while trying to inbound the ball. He sank the second of two free throws to give the Aggies the lead. Mullings was 3-of-4 at the line and ended with night with eight points and three steals.

Sophomore guard K.C. Ross-Miller had a career-high 16 points, and freshman center Sim Bhullar also had 16 points. Senior forward Bandja Sy added 14 points including a late basket in the final 10 seconds.
