Clayton Vaughn and
Bozidar Antunovic were named the Western Athletic Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for the week of Jan. 7-13.
Vaughn, a junior from Sulphur Springs, Texas (Judson H.S.), placed second in the 60m at the Texas A&M 12-Team Invitational. He finished .06 off his school-record time, recording a time of 6.67. He finished ahead of runners from Baylor, Texas A&M, Houston and Texas State. His time was not only a season best for the WAC, but placed him in a tie for the fifth fastest time in the nation.
Antunovic, a junior from Indjija, Serbia (Arizona), won the shot put at the Texas A&M 12-Team Invitational with a school-record throw of 64'4.5'' (19.62m). His distance broke the previous UTA top mark that has stood for 27 years by more than four feet. He won the event by more than four feet and set an indoor personal best by over two feet. His throw is the second-best mark in the nation.
Other track nominees included: Idaho sophomore Ben Ayesu-Attah, Seattle U redshirt senior Zach Stanfield and Texas State senior Timothy Young.
Other field nominees included: Idaho junior Kyle Rothwell, Seattle U redshirt sophomore Bo Anderson, Texas State senior Logan Cunningham and UTSA senior Keith Benford.
