UTSA 65, Seattle U 55
UTSA handed Seattle U its first WAC loss of the season Thursday, posting a 65-55 win at the Convocation Center. With the win, the Roadrunners improve to 11-8 overall and 5-3 in WAC play. The Redhawks drop to 10-7 on the season and 7-1 in the WAC.
UTSA shot 40 percent from the field, 29 percent from beyond the arc and 78 percent from the free throw line on the game. Seattle U connected on 39 percent from the floor, 40 percent from downtown and 86 percent from the charity stripe. The Redhawks out-rebounded the Roadrunners 36-28, but committed 26 turnovers in the loss.
Whitney Wright led UTSA with 12 points, while Miki Turner had 11 and Mannasha Bell added 10.
Kacie Sowell paced Seattle U with 18points and 11 rebounds for her 11th double-double of the season.
Utah State 93, UT Arlington 83
Utah State won its third straight game Thursday, a 93-83 win over UT Arlington at the College Park Center. With the victory, the Aggies improve to 9-10 overall and 6-2 in conference play. The Mavericks fall to 3-15 on the season and 1-7 in the WAC.
Utah State shot 48 percent from the field, 33 percent from three-point range and 83 percent from the free throw line. UTA connected on 41 percent from the floor, 33 percent from downtown and 77 percent from the charity stripe. The Mavs out-rebounded the Aggies 44-37, but committed 25 turnovers in the loss.
Devyn Christensen led all players with 21 points, while Jenna Johnson added 16.
Three UTA players posted double-doubles. Desherra Nwanguma led the way with 15 points and 13 boards. Aron Garcia finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Laila Suleiman had 14 points and 11 assists.
Louisiana Tech 94, San Jose State 80
Louisiana Tech fought off a furious San Jose State rally en route to a 94-80 win at the Thomas Assembly Center Thursday night. With the victory, the Lady Techsters improve to 9-9 on the season and 5-3 in WAC play. The Spartans drop to 7-12 overall and 4-4 in the WAC.
LA Tech shot 44 percent from the floor, 30 percent from three-point range and 71 percent from the free throw line on the game. SJSU connected on 37 percent from the field, 44 percent from downtown and 82 percent from the charity stripe. The Lady Techsters dominated the boards, 52-39.
Whitney Frazier and Lulu Perry paced LA Tech with 21 points each. Brittany Lewis added 15 points, while Janay Borum dished out eight assists.
Ta'Rea Cunnigan led the Spartans with 21 poitns, while Emily Schill added 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Idaho 72, Texas State 60
Five Vandals scored in double figures as Idaho defeated Texas State 72-60 at Strahan Coluseum Thursday. With the win, the Vandals improve to 8-11 on the year and 5-3 in the WAC. The Bobcats fall to 7-11 overall and 1-7 in WAC play.
Idaho shot 46 percent from the field, 43 percent from three-point range and just 38 percent from the free throw line. Texas State connected on 30 percent from the floor, 22 percent from beyond the arc and 92 percent from the charity stripe. The Vandals out-rebounded the Bobcats 51-38.
Alyssa Charlston led Idaho with 14 points and 17 rebounds. Christina Salvatore added 13 ponts, followed by Connie Ballestero with 11. Krissy Karr and Ali Forde had 10 points each.
Diamond Ford led all players with 25 points, while Kaylan Martin finished with 10. Erin Peoples grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds.
