UT Arlington 74, Utah State 68


LOGAN, Utah
–(UTA Media Relations) UT Arlington snapped a two-game Western Athletic Conference losing streak by holding off Utah State 74-68 Thursday night at Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.

"It's a great feeling especially after last week," UT Arlington coach Scott Cross. "To come in here and get a win against a really good team is huge."

Karol Gruszecki scored 14 to lead five players in double figures for the Mavericks, who improved to 9-8 overall and 4-4 in the WAC. The Aggies have dropped three in a row to fall to 14-4 and 5-3.

UT Arlington looks for its second perfect WAC road trip of the season Saturday night at San Jose State. The Mavericks, 7-2 away from home, swept a two-game trip at UTSA and Texas State earlier this month.

UTSA 78, Seattle U 75



SEATLLE, Wash. —(UTSA Media Relations) Michael Hale III made the most of his homecoming by scoring a career-high 35 points and that helped UTSA hold off Seattle, 78-75, on Thursday night at Key Arena. The victory, the Roadrunners' first in more than a month, snapped a seven-game losing streak and was the program's first in Western Athletic Conference play.

UTSA (5-13, 1-7 WAC) never trailed and led by as many as 14 points, but it had to hold off a furious rally by the Redhawks (6-12, 1-7 WAC).

Texas State 78, Idaho 73



Moscow, Idaho
–(Texas State Media Relations) Texas State battled back from a 17-point deficit to grab the win tonight on the road at Idaho. Backed by a stellar performance by Joel Wright, the Bobcats defeated the Vandals, 78-73, tonight at Cowan Spectrum.

Wright had an impressive all-around game as the junior led Texas State with a career-high 37 points (12-for-20 FG, 12-of-15 FT), in addition to six rebounds, five assists and five steals. Phil Hawkins added 16 points, and Reid Koenen chipped in 10 points. The Bobcats shot 46.7 percent from the floor, and recorded a season-low eight turnovers.

“We got down by 17 points, and our guys didn't quit,” said head coach Doug Davalos. “The guys kept their head above water, and this is what happens when you just don't give up. A win is a win, but tonight showed a lot of character.”

Louisiana Tech 76, San Jose State 54


SAN JOSE, Calif. -(AP) Raheem Appleby scored 17 points, Alex Hamilton added 15 off the bench and Louisiana Tech coasted to a 76-54 victory over San Jose State on Thursday night.

Appleby made three 3-pointers, while Hamilton had eight assists, six rebounds and four steals. Brandon Gibson chipped in 13 points for the Bulldogs (17-3, 8-0 Western Athletic), who won their ninth consecutive game.

Aalim Moor had 14 points and D.J. Brown 11 for the Spartans (9-10, 3-5), who were without leading scorer James Kinney due to a suspension. Kinney's average of 20.6 points per game ranks 11th in Division I.
