DENVER - Idaho's Rachel Millet and Northern Arizona's Kristy Ardavanis have been named the Western Athletic Conference Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for Jan. 21-27.

Millet, a sophomore from Spokane, Wash. (Ferris H.S.), continued her undefeated individual race season last Saturday at Oregon State when she won the 100 free, 200 free and 200 IM. She was timed in 51.81 in the 100 free, 1:51.41 in the 200 free and 2:04.37 in the 200 IM. Her winning margin in all three races was by at least 1.5 seconds. All three times would rank in the WAC's top 10 this season.

Ardavanis, a senior from Gilbert, Ariz. (Mesquite H.S.), won the 1-meter competition in a field of 47 of the best divers from the West and finished fourth on 1-meter at the Air Force Diving Invitational. Ardavanis opened on 1-meter with a seventh-place prelim score of 265.15 to be included in the field of eight that advanced to the final, where she posted the highest score of any diver in either round, totaling 299.50 to win by nearly 22 points ahead of divers from UCLA, Utah, UNLV, and others. On 3-meter, Ardavanis totaled the 2nd highest prelim score on the board with a 298.65 total and she would go on to score 290.35 to place fourth in the final, again finishing ahead of UCLA divers. Ardavanis also dove on platform and was the third highest NAU scorer, totaling 168.05 to place 25th overall.

Other swimmers nominated: Cal State Bakersfield sophomore Ali Gillespie, Denver sophomore Bridgette McNally and Northern Colorado junior Courtney Van Oost.

Other divers nominate: Cal State Bakersfield senior Jordan Reed and Denver sophomore Dana Gau.
