Kansas City 3, Bakersfield 0

Bakersfield, Calif. – (UMKC Media Relations) Taylor Bare’s goal-scoring onslaught resumed on Sunday afternoon at Bakersfield, as the senior forward led Kansas City to a 3-0 victory the host Roadrunners.

The opening half was dominated by defense, as both keepers kept the net clean for the first 41 minutes. Disaster struck for Bakersfield at 42’ with Kaely Tott lining up a corner kick for UMKC. Tott, as she is apt to do, played a dangerous ball into the box that ricocheted off of a Roadrunner defender and snuck between the sticks to put the ‘Roos out in front 1-0.

The second half began much like the first stanza, with both teams finding staunch defensive resistance amid respective attempts at locating points. Such difficulty came to an abrupt end for the visitors, however, in the 72nd minute as Ellie Chadick and Alyssa Elver collaborated, touch pass to touch pass, to set Bare up for her first goal of the match.
