WAC Men's Basketball Preseason Media Poll, All-WAC Team Announced

LAS VEGAS – The 2013-14 Western Athletic Conference men’s basketball media poll has tabbed New Mexico State as this year’s favorite. New Mexico State junior guard Daniel Mullings has been named the preseason Player of the Year.

New Mexico State received 215 points and all 24 first-place votes. Idaho was picked second with 150 points. Bakersfield garnered 138 points for third place followed by Utah Valley in fourth with 127 points. Seattle U was fifth with 119 points followed by Chicago State in sixth with 94 points. Texas-Pan American was seventh with 92 points, followed by Kansas City (79) in eighth and Grand Canyon (66) in ninth.

Mullings receives the preseason media Player of the Year honors after finishing the 2012-13 season averaging 13.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. He earned second team all-WAC honors last season.

The All-WAC team included Mullings, Utah Valley senior center Ben Aird, Bakersfield junior forward Brandon Barnes, New Mexico State sophomore center Sim Bhullar and Idaho senior forward Stephen Madison.
