Bakersfield 3, New Mexico State 2
The Roadrunners handed the Aggies their first WAC loss of the season at the Icardo Center Thursday, defeating New Mexico State in five sets (14-25, 18-25, 26-24, 25-22, 15-12). With the win, Bakersfield improves to 12-9 overall and 4-3 in the WAC. The Aggies fall to 11-9 on the season and 6-1 in WAC play.
NM State out-hit the Roadrunners .212 to .180 and out-blocked Bakersfield 14-6. The Aggies also had more kills (58-55) and assists (57-49), but the Roadrunners had more digs (61-59).
Debora Araujo led all players with 20 kills and eight digs. Kelsee Sawyer added 13 kills, while Fernanda Goncalves posted a double-double of 45 assists and 10 digs.
Lauren Loerch led NM State with 15 kills and 11 digs, while Bradley Nash also doubled up with 10 kills and 11 digs.
Seattle U 3, Chicago State 1
After dropping the first set, the Redhawks rallied to defeat Chicago State in four sets (21-25, 25-18, 25-13, 26-24) Thursday at the Connolly Center. With the win, Seattle U improves to 9-14 overall and 6-2 in WAC play. The Cougars drop to 2-19 on the season and 0-7 in the WAC.
The Redhawks hit .294 on the match, compared to the .238 of Chicago State. Seattle U also had more kills (55-45), assists (53-43) and digs (50-34). The Cougars had more blocks (7-5), but committed 17 service errors on the night.
Martina Samadan paced Seattle U with 16 kills, while Sarah Jaeckel and Iris Ivanis added 12 kills apiece. Lani Beadle and Kerry Lane posted a match-highs of 17 digs and 50 assists, respectively.
Paula Sioto led Chicago State with a match-high 17 kills, while Valeria Deriderio added 12. Mackenzie Lotter dished out 40 assists, while Julia Menhart tallied 15 digs.
Utah Valley 3, Texas-Pan American 0
The Wolverines swept past the Broncs (25-8, 25-17, 25-19) in WAC action Thursday at the PE Building. With the win, Utah Valley improves to 12-11 overall and 6-2 in the WAC. Texas-Pan American falls to 11-12 on the season and 1-6 in WAC play with the loss.
The Wolverines hit. 309 on the match, compared to the .022 of the Broncs. Utah Valley also had more kills (39-25), assists (35-25), sevice aces (5-1), digs (41-39) and blocks (9-3).
Katie Fritzler led all players with 10 kills, while McKenna Tait had a match-high 17 digs. Brookelyn Hall finished with 32 assists, eight digs and three blocks.
Haley Durham and Alisha Watson paced UTPA with six kills each. Nycole Masaki dished out 23 assists and Shanice Faison tallied 12 digs.
Idaho 3, Kansas City 0
The Vandals swept Kansas City (25-19, 25-23, 25-17) at Memorial Gym Thursday. With the victory, Idaho moves to 11-8 overall and 4-3 in WAC play. The Kangaroos fall to 10-9 on the season and 4-3 in the WAC.
The Vandals out-hit Kansas City .336 to .176. Idaho also had more kills (48-37), assists (44-34), service aces (4-3), digs (62-54) and blocks (6-4).
Jessica Hastriter led all players with 18 kills on .429 hitting, while Ashley Christman added 10 kills. Jenna Ellis posted a match-high 26 digs, while Meredith Coba finished with 39 assists.
Emma Hagedorn led Kansas City with nine kills, while Kaylyn Brandt posted a double-double of 18 assists and 10 digs. Taryn Miller had 21 digs.
