DENVER – Grand Canyon’s Mark Geddes and Chicago State’s Casey MacNeil have been named the Western Athletic Conference Golfers of the Month for September.
Geddes, a senior from Cheshire, England (Calday Grange Grammar), had two top-five finishes in October. At the Charles Coody West Texas Intercollegiate in Abilene, Texas, Sept. 9-10, Geddes finished in fourth place with a 2-under par 140 (71-69), helping the Antelopes to a fifth place team finish. Geddes capped off the month with a fifth place finish at the Dash Thomas Memorial in Eagle, Idaho. He finished tied for fifth with a 2-under par 211 (68-72-71). Geddes led WAC men’s golfers in September with a stroke average of 70.20 over his five rounds.
MacNeil, a sophomore from Massey, Ontario (Charleston Southern), competed in four tournaments during September, placing in the top-3 in all four. She opened September with a tie for first at the Chi-town Classic with a 6-over par 78, leading her team to a first place finish. MacNeil then placed second at the Green Bay Shootout in Green Bay, Wisc., with a 3-over par 76, helping her team to another team title. She then won the Green Bay Invitational title with a 2-over par 148 (76-72) as she led her team to a second place finish. MacNeil capped off the month with a tie for third at the Cougar Classic at 3-over par (73-74—147), helping Chicago State to a third team title in September. MacNeil averaged 74.80 strokes per round, the best in the WAC.
