HOUSTON – Freshman forward Tobenna Uzo scored two first half goals and the HBU defense took the rest from there in defeating visiting Oral Roberts, 2-0, Tuesday evening from Sorrels Field.

Uzo, who leads the conference in goals and points, scored his sixth and seventh tallies of the season.

His first marker came in the 26th minute and was assisted by Patrick Toh. Uzo headed the ball into the top right corner to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead.

Six minutes later, Uzo had an amazing individual effort to make the score 2-0. All alone and surrounded by four Golden Eagles, Uzo eventually slipped through all of them, then his shot beat the keeper on the left side.

HBU outshot ORU 9-2 in the opening half and the Huskies had both corner kick opportunities.

The Huskies almost made the score 3-0 in the middle of the second half, as Stefan Lamanna's shot was blocked, and the rebound found Thilo Borgmann, whose shot went just high.

HBU outshot the Golden Eagles 16-4 in the match and had a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Kevin Suarez earned his first victory on the season, as he made three saves. Ben LaCourse played the first half and took the loss, as he made one save. Isaac Sandoval played the other half and made three saves.

HBU (5-2-0) will begin WAC play at UMKC on Oct. 5 at 7 pm.

TAMPA, Fla.--In a match marked by a 90-minute delay due to a power outage, South Florida defeated Bakersfield 3-0 Tuesday night.

The Bulls (3-1-4) and the Roadrunners (2-5-1) played a scoreless first half in which South Florida outshot the 'Runners 6-2. However at halftime, the power went out in Corbett Stadium, resulting in the long delay.

When play resumed just shortly before 10 p.m. (EDT), Lindo Mfeka scored what proved to be the gamewinner 2:11 into the second half for USF Mfeka scored at 81:11 off a Wesley Charpie rebound to make it 2-0. A little under four minutes later Ben Sweat's breakaway goal gave South Florida a three-goal advantage.

"I'm just happy to conclude our non-conference schedule," said Bakersfield head coach Simon Tobin. "I gave our team our toughest non-conference schedule ever and we are too young this year to play NCAA Tournament type teams on the road. We played well tonight, but the lights went out at halftime for 90 minutes. We didn't find our rhythm after the delay and conceded goals from naive mistakes."

Bakersfield opens Western Athletic Conference play Sunday at UNLV. Kickoff is 1 p.m.
