DENVER — Idaho’s Rachel Millet and Paige Hunt have been named the Western Athletic Conference Women’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for October 14-20.
Millet, a junior from Spokane, Wash. (Ferris HS), won six individual events in two days for the Vandals. On Friday night, Millet won the 200 free (1:52.00), 200 back (2:02.44) and 200 IM (2:05.23) in a dual meet victory against Northern Colorado. She was also on the winning 400 medley relay (3:50.45). On Saturday afternoon against Washington State, she won the same three events; 200 free (1:51.30), 200 back (2:01.29) and 200 IM (2:03.89). All of her times on Saturday are currently the best in the WAC for those events.
Hunt, a senior from Mesa, Ariz. (Mesa CC), won the 3-meter against Northern Colorado with a score of 260.17 while placing second on the 1-meter (260.17). Against Washington State, she scored 312.75 points to win the 3-meter and 257.02 to place second on the 1-meter board. Both of her second place finishes on the 1-meter came against her teammate Mairin Jameson. Idaho beat Northern Colorado, 207.5-92.5, while narrowly losing to Washington State, 151-143.
Other swimmers nominated: Bakersfield freshman Paola Hernandez; Grand Canyon freshman Hannah Kastigar; North Dakota senior Camille Merwin; Northern Colorado freshman Carleigh Barrett; and Seattle U freshman Blaise Wittenauer-Lee.
Other divers nominated: Bakersfield freshman Carlee Burks; and Northern Colorado sophomore Kelsey Smith.
