New Mexico State 3, Grand Canyon 0
The Aggies swept past Grand Canyon (25-18, 25-16, 25-16) in WAC action at the Pan American Center Thursday. With the win, New Mexico State improves to 12-10 overall and 7-2 in the WAC. The Antelopes drop to 8-13 on the season and 2-6 in WAC play with the loss.
NM State out-hit Grand Canyon .244 to .051. The Aggies also had more kills (50-25), assists (49-23), service aces (5-0), digs (64-50) and blocks (9-7).
Bradley Nash led all players with 11 kills and 17 digs for her fifth double-double of the season. Gwen Murphy also tallied 11 kills, while Taylor Livoti posted her eighth double-double of the season with 22 assists and 12 digs.
Kaitlynn Ausmus paced Grand Canyon with eight kills, while Mackenzie Phelps had 17 digs and Jessica Posse dished out 12 assists.
Idaho 3, Utah Valley 2
The Vandals rallied from down two sets to none to defeat Utah Valley in five sets (16-25, 19-25, 25-23, 25-17, 15-12) at the PE Building in WAC action Thursday. Idaho improves to 13-8 on the season and 6-3 in WAC play with the win. With the loss, the Wolverines fall to 13-12 overall and 7-3 in the WAC.
Utah Valley out-hit Idaho .207 to .177, but the Vandals out-blocked the Wolverines 12-9 and had nine service aces in the win. Utah Valley also had more kills (64-52), assists (63-49) and digs (69-64).
Katelyn Peterson and Jessica Hastriter had 11 kills each to lead Idaho. Meredith Coba was just shy of a double-double, finishing with 44 assists and nine digs, while Jenna Ellis had 18 digs.
Makisha Willden had 15 kills and 12 digs for her second double-double of the season to lead Utah Valley. Cassie Wahlin finished with 14 kills, Lauren Stringham had 11 and Katie Fritzler added 10. Brookelyn Hall posted her sixth double-double of the year with 54 assists and 12 digs, while McKenna Tait had a match-high 26 digs.
Bakersfield 3, Seattle U 0
The Roadrunners snapped Seattle U's four-match winning streak with a sweep of the Redhawks (25-19, 25-13, 25-22) Thursday night in WAC action at the Icardo Center. With the win, Bakersfield improves to 14-9 on the season and 6-3 in the WAC. Seattle U drops to 10-15 overall and 7-3 in WAC play.
The Roadrunners out-hit the Redhawks .380 to .195. Bakersfield also had more kills (45-32), assists (45-31), service aces (10-4), digs (38-33) and blocks (6-4).
Kelsee Sawyer led all players with 13 kills. Fernanda Goncalves dished out 47 assists, while Mariah Alvidrez had 11 digs. Debora Araujo tallied six aces in the win.
Iris Ivanis led Seattle U with 10 kills, while Kerry Lane had 25 assists and Lani Beadle finished with 11 digs.
