DENVER – New Mexico State’s Brett Walker and Grand Canyon’s Charlotte Jaengkit have been named the Western Athletic Conference Golfers of the Month for October.
Walker, a junior from Ukiah, Calif. (Ukiah HS), helped the Aggies win back-to-back tournaments in the same week in October. Walker won the individual title for the Aggies at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate after shooting a 6-under par 65 during the final round, tying him for the low round of the tournament. Walker finished with a total score of 6-under par 207 (70-72-65), two shots ahead of the second place finisher, en route to his first career victory at NM State. Walker also finished tied for sixth overall at the Price’s Give Em Five UTEP Invite with a three-round score of 7-under par 209 (70-67-72), marking his second top-10 finish of the week.
Jaengkit, a junior from Bangkok, Thailand (Antelope Valley Christian), was the top finisher for Grand Canyon in three tournaments during the month of October. She won individual medalist honors at GCU’s final fall tournament, the Rainbow Wahine Invitational, after carding an impressive 4-under par 68 in the final round to move up from a tie for 14th after two rounds and winning two playoff holes. Jaengkit finished in the top-10 in each tournament in October, taking third at the Challenge at Onion Creek (70-72-71—213) and a tie for eighth at the Santa Clara Colby Invitational (76-79—155).
