Bakersfield 74, Sacramento State 66

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.-(CSUB Media Relations) Three games into the 43rd season of Roadrunners basketball, Bakersfield managed to outduel the guard play of Sacramento State by putting four-players in double figures and shooting nearly 50% from the field as the ‘Runners won the program’s 800th game all-time with a 74-66 win Wednesday night at the Icardo Center.

Javonte Maynor (R-Jr., Atlanta, Ga., Georgia State) paced Bakersfield with 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting and 4-of-6 from three-point range as the Roadrunners managed to build a pair of double-digit leads in the ballgame and fend off a few Hornet rallies en route to the win. Maynor led a trio of guards in double figures as Issiah Grayson (R-Sr., Atlanta, Ga., Southern Idaho CC) added 15 points while shooting 4-of-10 on the night including a 2-of-4 performance from three-point range and a 5-of-6 night from the free-throw line; Zach Lamb (R-Sr., Norcross, Ga., Miami-Dade CC) chipped in 14 points on 4-of-6 from the field and 5-of-6 from the free-throw line as well.

Seattle U 75, Cal State Fullerton 71

Seattle, Wash.-(SU Media Relations) Behind the three-point shooting by Isiah Umipig (Federal Way, Wash.), Jarell Flora (Bremerton, Wash.), and Luiz Bidart (Sao Paulo, Brazil) in the second half, Seattle University made a furious comeback to earn its first victory of the 2013-14 season, a 75-71 win over Cal State Fullerton Wednesday night in a men’s collegiate basketball contest at KeyArena at Seattle Center.

Down by 18 at 51-33 with 12:47 remaining in the second half, the Redhawks started their comeback with a three-pointer from Flora. After trading baskets until the eight-minute mark, Flora hit two more three-pointers in the span of a minute to close the Seattle U deficit to 10 at 59-49 with 6:26 remaining in regulation.slkjdfklsdjfkjds

Texas-Pan American 94, Huston-Tillotson 62

EDINBURG –(UTPA Media Relations) Graduate student Javorn Farrell hit his first three three-pointers of the season to lead the University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's basketball team past the Huston-Tillotson University Rams 94-62 on Wednesday at the UTPA Fieldhouse.

Farrell led the Broncs (1-2) with a season-high 18 points on 5-of-12 shooting, including 3-of-5 from behind the arc plus 5-of-7 from the line with six rebounds, five assists, three steals and one block. Senior Justin Leathers scored 14 points with a season-high eight rebounds and two steals while hitting all seven of his free throw attempts. Sophomore Shaquille Hines scored a career-high 11 points. Senior Josh Cleveland scored 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Junior Lauri Toivonen scored 10 points as well.

Oklahoma 85, Idaho 65

NORMAN, Okla. –(UI Media Relations) The Idaho men’s basketball team built an early lead in the first half, but Oklahoma stormed back to take control and never let up in an 85-65 victory over the Vandals on Wednesday night in the first of four games for Idaho in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic.

Idaho lead 17-11 midway through the first half but the Sooners closed out the half strong and took a 40-29 lead into the locker room at the break before adding to their advantage throughout the second half.

Omaha 101, Kansas City 71

Omaha, Neb. –(UMKC Media Relations) The Omaha men’s basketball squad jumped out to a huge first half lead and coasted on Wednesday night against UMKC, taking a 101-71 victory in its home opener.

The Mavericks (2-1) shot 54 percent and turned the ‘Roos (0-3) over 12 times, leading to 16 points, including 11 on the fast break to build a huge lead in the opening half. The Mavs also held UMKC to 33 percent shooting in the period. UNO started the game on a 24-6 run, and built the lead to as many as 32 before taking a 57-27 advantage into the half.
