Idaho 3, Chicago State 1
After dropping the first set, the Vandals won the next three to defeat Chicago State in four sets (18-25, 25-19, 25-20, 25-16) in WAC action Thursday at the Dickens Center. With the win, Idaho improves to 16-10 on the season and 9-5 in the WAC. The Cougars drop to 2-28 overall and 0-15 in WAC play.
Idaho out-hit Chicago State .414 to .233. The Vandals also had more kills (56-51), assists (52-49), digs (45-43) and blocks (8-2). The Cougars tallied more service aces (9-5) and fewer service errors (6-8).
Jessica Hastriter led Idaho with 13 kills, while Ali Forde added 12. Alyssa Schultz finished with 11 kills and Taylor Wilkinson had 10. Meredith Coba posted a double-double of 45 assists and 12 digs.
Chicago State was led by Paula Sioto's match-high 21 kills. Valeria Desiderio had a double-double of 11 kills and 11 digs, while Julia Menhart had a match-high 17 digs.
Kansas City 3, Seattle U 1
The Kangaroos defeated Seattle U in four sets (25-17, 21-25, 25-18, 25-16) in WAC action at the Swinney Recreation Center Thursday. With the victory, Kansas City improves to 15-12 on the season and 9-6 in the WAC. The Redhawks fall to 11-19 overall and 8-7 in WAC play.
The 'Roos out-hit Seattle U .206 to .184 and out-blocked the Redhawks 13-5. Kansas City also had more kills (52-46), assists (47-44). service aces (6-2) and digs (63-55).
Sydney Crimmins led the 'Roos with 14 kills, while Jessica Hendin added 11. Taryn Mill had a match-high 30 digs, while Emma Hagedorn finished with seven blocks.
Seattle U was led by Sarah Jaeckel with 14 kills and 11 digs. Martina Samadan added 10 kills, while Kerry Lane had 41 assists and nine digs.
Loyola Marymount 3, Bakersfield 0
The Roadrunners fell in four straight sets (16-25, 18-25, 25-23, 13-25) to Loyola Marymount in non-conference action Thursday at the Icardo Center. With the loss, Bakersfield falls to 17-11 on the season.
The Roadrunners hit .129 on the match, compared to the .275 of the Lions. LMU also had more kills (56-47), assists (52-44), service aces (3-1) and blocks (9.5-5). Bakersfield had more digs (54) than the Lions (51).
Debora Araujo led Bakersfield with 17 kills and eight digs, while Kelsee Sawyer and Molly O'Hagan added 10 kills each. Fernanda Gonçalves finished with 35 assists and 11 digs for her WAC-leading 12th double-double of the season.
