With Saturday night's results, New Mexico State won the WAC regular-season title outright and locked up the No. 1 seed in the WAC Tournament. That is the only seed set at this time.
Bakersfield 3, at Utah Valley 2
The Roadrunners snapped Utah Valley's five-match winning streak with a five-set (9-25, 25-23, 19-25, 25-20, 16-14) win over the Wolverines at the PE Building Saturday. With the win, Bakersfield improves to 10-4 overall and 18-11 on the season. Utah Valley falls to 18-13 on the year and 11-4 in WAC play.
The Roadrunners have two matches remaining in WAC play, while the Wolverines have one. Should Bakersfield and Utah Valley end up with the same WAC record, the Roadrunners would earn the No. 2 seed in the WAC Tournament based on sweeping the series with the Wolverines.
Utah Valley out-hit Bakersfield .223 to .175 and out-blocked the Roadrunners 18-12. Bakersfield had more kills (62-58), assists (57-52), service aces (7-5) and digs (65-60).
Debora Araujo led all players with 16 kills, while Shayna Guitare added 12 kills, and Molly O'Hagan had 11 kills and eight blocks. Fernanda Gonçalves posted a double-double of 50 assists and 12 digs. Mariah Alvidrez had three aces and a match-high 21 digs.
Utah Valley was led by Cassie Wahlin with 15 kills. Lauren Stringham posted a double-double of 11 kills and 10 blocks, while Kalani Norris had 10 kills. Brookelyn Hall dished out 44 assists, while McKenna Tait had four aces and 17 digs.
Idaho 3, at Kansas City 1
The Vandals won their fourth straight match, defeating Kansas City in four sets (25-20, 25-20, 19-25, 25-22) at the Swinney Recreation Center Saturday. With the win, Idaho improves to 17-10 overall and 10-5 in the WAC. The Kangaroos fall to 15-13 on the season and 9-7 in the WAC. The Vandals will be either the No. 3 or No. 4 seed in the WAC Tournament, while Kansas City will be either the No. 5 or No. 6 seed.
Idaho hit .255 on the match, compared to the .205 of the 'Roos. Kansas City had more kills (65-50), assists (58-48) and digs (69-62), but the Vandals out-blocked the 'Roos 14-5 and had six service aces in the win.
Ali Forde tallied a career-high 15 kills in her first career start, while Ashley Christman added 10 kills. Meredith Coba had 45 assists, while Alyssa Schultz posted nine blocks and Jenna Ellis had 19 digs.
Kansas City was led by Jessica Hendin with 15 kills. Taylor Buhrow and Emma Hagedorn added 12 kills each, while Chloe Jarema finished with 11. Kaylyn Brandt posted a double-double of 26 assists and 13 digs, while Taryn Miller had a match-high 24 digs.
Seattle U 3, at Chicago State 1
The Redhawks defeated Chicago State in four sets (25-13, 27-25, 22-25, 25-17) in WAC action at the Dickens Center Saturday to close out the regular season. With the win, Seattle U improves to 12-19 on the season and 9-7 in the WAC. The Cougars close the season 2-29 overall and 0-16 in WAC play. The Redhawks will be either the No. 5 or No. 6 seed in the WAC Tournament, depending on what happens with the remaining matches.
Seattle U out-hit Chicago State .274 to .129. Both teams had 46 kills and 43 assists, but the Redhawks had more service aces (6-3) and blocks (15-2). The Cougars had more digs (50-44).
Matea Mamic led Seattle U with 15 kills, while Martina Samadan added 11. Kerry Lane dished out 40 assists, while Lani Beadle had a team-high 13 digs and Stephanie Stoll had 10 blocks.
Chicago State was led by Valeria Desiderio with 15 kills, while Paula Sioto added 14. Mackenzie Lotter finished with 36 assists and Julia Menhart had a match-high 22 digs.
