Grand Canyon 91, Western New Mexico 41

Phoenix, Ariz.-(GCU Media Relations) On a night marked by career-setting performances, the Grand Canyon University men's basketball team won in convincing fashion, 91-41, over Western New Mexico in the Antelopes' regular season home opener tonight at GCU Arena in front of their second consecutive sellout crowd. The win was the first of the season for GCU and the first collegiate victory for Dan Majerle as a head coach.

The margin of victory for the 'Lopes was its largest since posting a 63-point win on Jan. 11, 2007 against Southwestern College (now Arizona Christian). The 91 points were the most scored by the 'Lopes since totaling 105 on Feb. 14, 2013 at Academy of Art.

Idaho 78, Northwest Nazarene 64

MOSCOW, Idaho –(UI Media Relations) A 52 percent shooting performance led the Idaho men’s basketball team to a 78-64 win over Northwest Nazarene in Memorial Gym on Saturday night.

Idaho junior Connor Hill matched his career-high with 22 points, including a four-point play, as the Post Falls, Idaho, native hit 7-of-12 shots including three 3-pointers and went 5-for-5 from the free throw line.

Senior Stephen Madison added 16 points and a team-high eight rebounds for Idaho and junior Bira Seck had 14 points and four boards. Senior Glen Dean had five assists and no turnovers, and scored all four of his points at the free throw line.

Seattle U 100, Evergreen State 59

SEATTLE, Wash. – (SU Media Relations) After being challenged to improving its rebounding effort, the Seattle University men’s basketball team pulled down 68 boards, including 35 offensive rebounds, as the Redhawks used a significant first half run to pull away with a 100-59 victory over Evergreen State Saturday night in men’s collegiate basketball action at KeyArena at Seattle Center.

After Evergreen State’s Kyle Calhoun made two free throws to tie the game at 6-6, Seattle U scored 21 unanswered points over the next four minutes, including eight easy layups or dunks over that span. The two teams basically traded baskets the rest of the first half, with the Redhawks shooting 17-of-35 from the field while holding Evergreen State to 8-of-26 shooting from the field and forcing the Geoducks into 11 turnovers before halftime.

IPFW 66, Texas-Pan American 60

CORPUS CHRISTI – (UTPA Media Relations) One day after scoring 23 points against Tennessee Tech, graduate student Javorn Farrell led the University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's basketball team with 22 points during a 66-60 loss to the IPFW Mastodons on Saturday at the Holiday Inn Downtown Marina Islanders Basketball Tournament, hosted by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, at the American Bank Center.

Farrell tied his career-highs in field goals made and attempted by going 9-for-16 from the field with six rebounds and two steals. Sophomore Shaquille Hines tied his career-high in scoring with his third-straight game of 11 points. Junior Christian Hildebrandt scored a career-high eight points while going 6-for-7 from the foul line.
