Utah Valley 2, New Mexico State 1 (2OT)

LAS CRUCES, N.M. -(UVU Media Relations) Behind Haley Curtis' free kick strike in the 108th minute, Utah Valley University grabbed a 2-1, double overtime victory at New Mexico State Friday afternoon. It is the second time in the last three contests that Curtis has scored the golden goal in extra time.

Behind Kristen Bailey-Yoo's late equalizer, UVU (9-8-1, 7-3-1 WAC) forced NM State (4-12-2, 1-8-1 WAC) into overtime for the second time this season. But whereas the first match was settled at a 2-2 draw, the Wolverines found the winning formula in the second go-around.

Kansas City 1, Bakersfield 0

Kansas City, Mo. -(UMKC Media Relations) The Kansas City women’s soccer team reignited its late season surge with a 1-0 victory over the visiting Bakersfield Roadrunners at Durwood Stadium on Friday.

The match was relatively square in terms of possession and scoring opportunities as both defenses, in large part, held the opposing attack at bay.

The ‘Roos (10-8-1, 7-4-0) got on the board in the 25th minute when Taylor Bare located freshman Emily Herndon just in front of Bakersfield (4-13-1, 3-7-1) goalkeeper Tori Ornela. Herndon capitalized on the opportunity, driving the go-ahead goal into the net. The goal was Herndon’s sixth, with Bare assisting for the second time this season.

Seattle U 3, Idaho 0

Seattle, Wash.--(SU Media Relations) Seattle University women’s soccer (14-2-2, 11-0-0 WAC) took control of the match early and kept offensive control as they defeated Idaho (4-14-0, 4-6-0 WAC), 3-0, in their 10th shutout of the season to extend their winning streak to 12 games. SU has one regular season match remaining before next weekend’s Western Athletic Conference tournament, where they will be the No. 1 seed as the WAC Regular Season Champions.

“I’m really pleased with where we’re at, on top of the WAC, and today’s game for me was pretty special because I couldn’t think of a better way for our eight, amazing, wonderful seniors to end their careers here on their home field,” said head coach Julie Woodward. “I think a big part of the reason we’re here today, why we won the WAC, why we’re headed to the conference tournament is because of that group and, today, I think, was a wonderful way to honor them. Looking forward, I’m just excited about the opportunities and the conference tournament.”
