FRERICHS TO RUN AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
Kansas City’s Courtney Frerichs placed fourth at the Midwest Regionals on Nov. 15, earning an automatic bid to race in the NCAA Championships. Frerichs is the first UMKC women’s student-athlete to represent the ‘Roos at the NCAA Cross Country Championship.

The 2013 Cross Country National Championships will take place in Terre Haute, Ind.. The race will take place at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center.

UTAH VALLEY MEN REGIONALLY RANKED
The Utah Valley men’s cross country team are the lone Western Athletic Conference school that earned recognition after being ranked in the top 15 of the regional rankings by U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The Wolverines appear in the men’s Mountain Region rankings at No. 14.

WAC CHAMPIONSHIP
Utah Valley’s men and Idaho’s women ran to the 2013 WAC Cross Country team titles at Jefferson Park Golf Club on Nov. 2. Idaho freshman Nicholas Boersma claimed the men’s individual title as he covered the 8K championship course in a time of 25:26.70. Idaho senior Hannah Kiser won the women’s 5K championship with a time of 17:15.70.

NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2013 Cross Country National Championships will take place in Terre Haute, Ind.. The race will take place at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center.

Bakersfield Roadrunners  
Bakersfield finished off its inaugural WAC Cross Country season with an eighth-place finish at the WAC Cross Country Championships on Nov. 2 ... freshman LaShya Morgan finished 43rd on the 6K course in a time of 20:38.10 to lead the ‘Runners ... junior Megan Thompson was 45th (20:57.80), sophomore Jorey Braughton (21:21.90) finished 48th, freshman Tori Blackmon placed 50th (22:02.90), and freshman Ariana Mariscal rounded out the scoring in 54th (22:57.80) ... sophomore Kaylee Moyer came in 55th (24:12.70) ... Bakersfield withdrew from the NCAA West Regionals and will not compete again this season.

Chicago State Cougars
Chicago State had two men’s runners and two women’s runners compete at the Midwest Regionals in Ames, Iowa, on Nov. 15 ... on the men’s side, junior DeShaunte Lewis finished in 151st place in the 10K event with a time of 33:19. ... junior David Prchal ran the course in 38:58.1, finishing in 199th ... on the women’s side, junior Oslyn Melissa Collins ran the 6K event in 24:48.2, finishing in 206th place ... sophomore Jusilya Scott (Chicago, Ill./Kenwood) recorded a time of 26:37.7, good for 210th place ... the Midwest Regional concluded the season for Chicago State.

Grand Canyon ‘Lopes
The Antelopes competed in their final meet of the 2013 season on Nov. 2, with both the men and women placing seventh at the WAC Cross Country Championships in Seattle, Wash. ... on the men’s side, junior Brandon Kocmoud was the top-placed finisher for the ‘Lopes, clocking in at 27:55.10 to finish 34th ... junior Jordan Beverly was just three seconds behind his teammate to claim 35th overall ...  on the women’s side, the ‘Lopes women were led by Kelsi Klotter’s 33rd finish with a time of 19.44.30 ... Jelena Andjelkovic and Kelsi Beam came in 36th and 37th, and were separated by just three-tenths of a second, after clocking in at 19:55.40 and 19:55.70, respectively ... the Antelopes are not eligible for NCAA Championship competition due to the NCAA-mandated probation period that is part of the transition to Division I.

Idaho Vandals  
The Vandals competed at the NCCA West Region Cross Country Championships on Nov. 15 ... senior Hannah Kiser placed 16th to lead the Idaho women to a 19th-place finish out of 32 teams ... she ran a 20:04, earning all-Region honors ...  senior Holly Stanton Browning was the second finisher on the women’s side with a 90th overall placing and a time of 21:17 ... sophomore Abby Larson took 126th overall in 21:45, senior Emily Paradis was 143rd in 21:58 and sophomore Alex Siemens wrapped up the team score with a time of 22:00 and 144th overall ... freshman Nicholas Boersma led the men’s team as he took 107th out of 187 runners on the men’s 10K course with a time of 32:03 ... sophomore Santos Vargas was Idaho’s second finisher with a time of 33:06 followed by freshman Nathan Stark with a time of 34:31 ... the West Regional concluded Idaho’s season.

Kansas City Kangaroos
The Kansas City Cross Country team ran at the NCAA Midwest Regionals in Ames, Iowa on Nov. 15 ... junior Courtney Frerichs finished in fourth place, qualifying for the NCAA Cross Country Championship in the process ... she completed the 6K course in 20:25.0 to lead the UMKC women to a 19th place team finish ... Frerichs is the first ‘Roo female student-athlete to represent at the NCAA Cross Country Championship ... freshman Kelly Carpenter turned in a top 100 finish, coming in at 22:46.2, good for 93rd place ... on the men’s side, Taylor Wardall led the way, running the 8K course in 31:08.9 to finish 30th ... Bryce Miller finished in 90th with a time of 32:21.8 ... the ‘Roo men finished 19th... the NCAA Cross County Championship will be hosted by Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana, on Saturday, Nov. 23.

New Mexico State Aggies
The New Mexico State cross country team competed for the NCAA Regionals on Nov. 15 ... the men finished 17th and the women placed 19th in the competition ... on the women’s side, junior Diana Hawk paced the Aggie women with a 61st-place finish in the women’s 6k with a time of 21:56 ... junior Megan McNally was the next from NM State to cross the finish line in 22 minutes and 26.5 seconds, good for 88th ... for the men, junior Daniel Rubio placed 90th with a time of 32:24.1 in the 10k race ... junior Nathan Starr was just behind his teammate in 98th place with a time of 32:43.2 ... the season concludes with the men’s team finishing in the top three on four occasional, while the women’s team claimed three meet titles this fall.

Seattle University Redhawks
The Seattle University competed at the NCAA West Regional meet on Nov. 15 ... the men took 25th and the women placed 20th at the competition ... Nathan McLaughlin finished in 115th place with a time of 32:12, the exact same time as  teammate Graham Kinzel-Grubbs, who was determined to finish in 116th place ... Hannah Mittelstaedt and Sophie Curatilo posted top-100 finishes, with Mittelstaedt finishing in 96th place in 21:23, just ahead of Curatilo in 98th place with a time of 21:24 ... Lila Rice, the WAC Freshman of the Year, crossed the finish line in 116th place with a mark of 21:37, followed by Lauren Hammerle in 123rd place in 21:42 ... the West Regional was the final race of the season for Seattle U.

Texas-Pan American Broncs
The UTPA men’s and women’s cross country teams last competed at the WAC Cross Country Championships on Nov. 2, with the men placing fifth and the women grabbing sixth ... on the men’s side, senior Martin Casse posted a sixth place finish with a season-best time of 25:41.10 in the 8K, while senior Luis Serrano finished in 10th place with a time of 25:56.40 ... on the women’s side, Rebekah Rodridguez led the Broncs with a 26th place finish as she posted a time of 19:17.80 in the 5K ... senior Robin Galloso finished in 28th with a time of 19:22.40 ... the WAC Championship was the last competition of the season for the Broncs.

Utah Valley Wolverines
The Utah Valley University ran at Mountain Region Championships on Nov. 15 in Ogden, Utah ... the Wolverine men finished 13th overall with the women landing in 18th ... senior Brooke Hodson-Davies was the top finisher for the Wolverines, placing 33rd in the women’s 6K with a time of 21:27.3 ... sophomore Bridget Hazel crossed the finish line second for the Wolverines, in 89th overall, in 22:26.9 ... for the men, Seth Gutzwiller ran the 10K in 31:14.8, finishing 63rd, with teammate Jason Lynch in 67th with a time of 31:23.1 ... the West Regional concluded the Cross Country season for the Wolverines.
