New Mexico State 3, Utah Valley 0
The Aggies won their ninth straight match, sweeping Utah Valley (25-18, 25-18, 25-20) to close out the regular season Thursday. With the win, New Mexico State improves to 20-10 overall and 14-2 in the WAC. The Wolverines fall to 17-10 overall and 10-5 in WAC play.
NM State out-hit Utah Valley .250 to .021 on the match. The Aggies also had more kills (38-29), assists (35-26), service aces (3-1), digs (37-36) and blocks (12-5).
Desiree Scott paced NM State with nine kills on .583 hitting, while Gwen Murphy added nine kills on .467 hitting. Both players had five blocks apiece. Jordan Reifsteck had a team-high 11 digs.
Lauren Stringham led Utah Valley with 10 kills and five blocks. Brookelyn Hall posted a double-double of 24 assists and 11 digs.
Idaho 3, Grand Canyon 1
The Vandals closed out the regular season with a four-set win over Grand Canyon (25-17, 14-25, 25-17, 25-16) at GCU Arena Thursday. With the victory, Idaho improves to 18-10 overall and 11-5 in the WAC. The Antelopes fall to 10-19 on the season and 4-12 in WAC play.
Idaho hit .270 on the match, compared to the .148 of Grand Canyon. The Vandals also had more kills (57-48), assists (53-44) and blocks (12-6), while the Antelopes posted more service aces (5-4) and digs (79-71).
Jessica Hastriter led Idaho with 14 kills, while Katelyn Peterson added a double-double of 13 kills and 12 digs. Taylor Wilkinson finished with 11 kills, while Alyssa Schultz added 10 kills and seven blocks. Merdith Coba had a match-high 48 assists, while Jenna Ellis posted a team-high 19 digs.
The Antelopes were led by Shannon Dugan with 21 kills and 15 digs for her fifth double-double of the season. Mackenzie Phelps had a match-high 25 digs.
