Grand Canyon 70, Abilene Christian 57
The Antelopes remained unbeaten on the season with a 70-57 win over Abilene Christian at the North Texas Tournament Sunday. With the victory, Grand Canyon improves to 4-0 on the year. The Wildcats fall to 4-2 on the season with the loss.
The Antelopes shot 45 percent from the field, 33 percent from three-point range and 57 percent from the free throw line on the game. ACU connected on 37 percent from the floor, 26 percent from downtown and 67 percent from the charity stripe. Grand Canyon out-reounded the Wildcats, 40-35.
Judy Jones posted her first double-double of the season with game highs of 19 points and 11 rebounds. Kaitlyn Petersen added 17 points, while Deanna Daniels finished with 15. Justine Johnson dished out six assists and nabbed five steals.
Portland 70, Seattle U 63
The Redhawks fell 70-63 to Portland at the Chiles Center Sunday. With the loss, Seattle U drops to 1-4 on the season. The Pilots improve to 3-2 on the year with the win.
The Redhawks shot 38 percent from the field, 39 percent from three-point range and 67 percent from the free throw line on the game. Portland connected on 37 percent from the floor, 40 percent from beyond the arc and 63 percent from the line. Seattle U won the rebounding battle, 48-40.
Taelor Ross led the Redhawks with 13 points and eight rebounds, while Kacie Sowell added 12 points and 17 rebounds. Ashley Ward scored 12 points, while Alexis Montgomery finished with 10.
