OREM, Utah --(UVU Media Relations) Utah Valley University grabbed a slim lead midway through the first half and held on for the final 32:16 to grab a 74-66 win over IUPUI in the season-opener at the UCCU Center Friday night.

Holton Hunsaker led Utah Valley (1-0) with 18 points in the game while Zach Nelson recorded a double-double in his Wolverine debut. The redshirt freshman scored 13 points and grabbed 10 boards in 31 minutes of action.

#24 Indiana 100, Chicago State 72

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. –(CSU Media Relations) Early foul trouble and a cold shooting hand from beyond the arc contributed to a 100-72 season-opening loss for Chicago State men's basketball at No. 24 Indiana on Friday (Nov. 8) evening at Assembly Hall.

The story of the game was fouls and free throws. By halftime six Cougars earned multiple fouls with senior Eddie Denard (Chicago, Ill./Foreman) and freshman Kurt Karis (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North ) each committing three personals in the half. HONOLULU – (NMSU Media Relations) The New Mexico State men’s basketball team fell 70-64 to Western Michigan in the season-opener, Friday, Nov. 8, on day one of the Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Rainbow Classic. The Aggies start the year 0-1 and Western Michigan moves to 1-0.

The difference in the game could have been NM State’s 62.5 shooting percentage from the free throw line, including a big miss from the charity stripe in the last minute of play, and WMU’s efficiency from the 3-point arc, going 10-of-25 (40%) to score 30 of its 70 points. The Aggies did, however, have more points in the paint (28-16), more points off turnovers (13-4), more second-chance points (26-13) and more points from the bench (18-12).
