Grand Canyon 62, Southeastern Louisiana 57
The Antelopes finished off the Gulf Coast Showcase with a 62-57 victory over Southeastern Louisiana in the seventh place game at Germain Arena Sunday. With the win, Grand Canyon improves to 6-2 on the season. The Lions fall to 1-7 with the loss.
The Antelopes shot 31 percent from the field, 25 percent from three-point range and 68 percent from the free throw line on the game. Southeastern Louisiana connected on 45 percent from the floor, 36 percent from downtown and 80 percent from the charity stripe. The Lions out-rebounded Grand Canyon 42-41, but the Antelopes took advantage of a 21-12 advantage in turnovers, outscoring the Lions 23-5 on points off turnovers.
Kaitlyn Petersen led Grand Canyon with 16 points and four assists, while Judy Jones and Johnna Brown finished with 12 each. Jones also grabbed nine rebounds.
Western Michigan 67, Chicago State 49
The Cougars dropped their sixth straight game, falling 67-49 to Western Michigan at the Jones Convocation center Sunday. With the loss, Chicago State drops to 1-6 on the season. The Broncos improve to 3-4 on the season with the win.
The Cougars shot 32 percent from the field, 33 percent from three-point range and 65 percent from the free throw line. Western Michigan connected on 47 percent from the floor, 29 percent from beyond the arc and 65 percent from the line. The Broncos also out-rebounded the Cougars 44-29.
Tierra Williams led Chicago State 18 points, while Jasmine Sanders added 12 and Paris Williams had nine.
