Chicago State 88, Southern Illinois 84

CHICAGO – (CSU Media Relations) Chicago State trailed for only 19 seconds in their 88-84 victory over Southern Illinois on Saturday (Nov. 30) afternoon at the Jones Convocation Center. The win is the first for the Cougars over Southern Illinois in school history. It's also the first win for Chicago State over a Missouri Valley Conference team since defeating Northern Iowa on Dec. 21, 2002.

Six Cougars finished in double-figures. Senior Quinton Pippen (Hamburg, Ark./Hamburg) was the high-scorer for the Cougars with 17 points thanks to five 3-pointers. Senior Nate Duhon (Lansing, Mich./Sexton) added 15 points on 7-of-8 free throws. Senior Corey Gray (Houston, Texas/Hightower) came off the bench to play 29 minutes. He added 15 points and recorded zero turnovers while handling the point for most of the game.

Idaho 80, UC Davis 76

DAVIS, Calif –(UI Media Relations) The Idaho men’s basketball team trailed by 15 points in the first half, but the Vandals battled back and on the heels of a 16-2 second-half run and Idaho secured an 80-76 victory over UC Davis on Saturday afternoon.

Connor Hill led Idaho with a career-high 29 points on 7-of-9 shooting from 3-point range, Stephen Madison added a 15-point, 16-rebound double-double, with seven assists, and Glen Dean scored all 18 of his points in the second half to lead Idaho to the victory.

The Vandals improve to 4-4 on the season with the win, and return home after going 2-3 on their five-game road trip. Idaho will return host border-rival Washington State in the Cowan Spectrum on Dec. 7.

Colorado State 85, New Mexico State 83

FORT COLLINS, Colo. –(NMSU Media Relations) Junior guards Daniel Mullings and DK Eldridge combined for 47 points and the NM State hit 59-percent of their three pointers but a last second layup gave the Colorado State an 85-83 win Saturday, Nov. 30, in Fort Collins, Colo.

The Aggies were down 77-68 with 1:41 left on the clock but stayed in the game hitting tough shots, which included a fall-away three pointer from Eldridge, who finished the evening going 6-of-6 from behind the three point arc. Eldridge walked off the court posting a career-high 23 points against CSU.

NM State was down 81-78 with 26 seconds left, but Mullings got the ball from freshman Travon Landry to hit another three making it an 82-81 ballgame. After CSU’s Daniel Bejarano went 1-of-2 at the free throw line with 12 seconds on the clock, Mullings took the ball to the basket and was fouled. Mullings would go to the line hitting both free throws to tie the game at 83 with seven seconds left.

Fresno State 96, Bakersfield 86 (OT)

FRESNO, Calif. -(AP) Marvelle Harris converted a pair of free throws with 2:19 left in overtime to put Fresno State ahead for, helping to forge a 96-86 win over CSU-Bakersfield in the Fresno Classic tournament Saturday night.

The Bulldogs converted 8 of 10 from the line in overtime to pull away.
Allen Huddleston and Cezar Guerro had 23 and 22 points, respectively for Fresno State, playing in the 29th edition of its own holiday tournament. Harris finished with 14 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.

Milwaukee 84, Kansas City 79

Kansas City, Mo. -(UMKC Media Relations) UMKC men's basketball found something on Saturday night, coming from 17 points back late in the first half to take a lead early in the second period, but in the end UW-Milwaukee pulled out an 84-79 win.

“I was really proud of our effort today,” Head Coach Kareem Richardson said. “We played hard, but we have to learn to play with that energy in longer spurts.”

The ‘Roos (1-5) trailed the Panthers (7-2) 41-24 with 1:15 left in the first period, but used a 5-0 spurt to close the stanza, including a half-court buzzer-beater by freshman Martez Harrison going into the break. They came out in the second right where they left off, expanding the run to 27-9 over a span of 5:12 to take a 51-50 lead with 15:10 to play. The ‘Roos forced four turnovers during that rally, and 25 of the points came from the trio of Trinity Hall, Nelson Kirksey, and Harrison.

Tennessee Tech 74, Utah Valley 71

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – (UVU Media Relations) Utah Valley University was edged in the first of two meetings against Tennessee Tech, 74-71, on Saturday at the Eblen Center. The teams will face off again in Orem on Dec. 28.

The Wolverines (2-4) got 18 points from Hayes Garrity and 16 from Mitch Bruneel while Jeremiah Samarrippas scored 20 to lead the Golden Eagles (5-4).

The game was tied at 67-67 with with 3:03 to go before Bruneel hit a pair of free throws to give UVU a 69-67 advantage. Dwan Caldwell, who scored 18, converted on a bucket and a free throw to give TTU the lead with 1:10 left before Bruneel scored on a feed from Ben Aird to put the Wolverines back on top on the next possession.

Bradley 74, Texas-Pan American 54

PEORIA, Ill. –(UTPA Media Relations) The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's basketball team fell to the Bradley Braves 74-54 on Saturday at Carver Arena.

Junior Shaquille Boga led the Broncs (4-5) with 17 points and five assists. Graduate student Javorn Farrell scored 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting. Senior Josh Cleveland grabbed a career-high tying 11 rebounds.

Walter Lemon Jr. led three Braves (5-2) in double-figures scoring with 26 points on 10-of-18 shooting with six assists. Omari Grier scored 17 points. Ka'Darryl Bell scored 10 points. Chris Blake led the Braves with 11 rebounds.
