Grand Canyon 86, East Carolina 76
The Antelopes beat previously unbeaten East Carolina Saturday at Fant-Ewing Coliseum to win the Warhawk Classic. With the win, Grand Canyon improves to 9-2 on the season. The Pirates fall to 8-1 with the loss.
The Antelopes shot 43 percent from the field, 36 percent from three-point range and 80 percent from the free throw lone on the game. East Carolina connected on 42 percent from the floor, 27 percent from downtown and 70 percent from the charity stripe. The Pirates edged GCU on the boards, 33-30.
Kaitlyn Petersen led the Antelopes with 21 points, while Justine Johnson added 19, Deanna Daniels finished with 18, Judy Jones tallied 11 and Johnna Brown added 10.
Johnson was named tournament MVP, while Judy Jones and Petersen were also named to the all-tournament team.
Seattle U 74, Montana State 63
The Redhawks defeated Montana State 74-63 Saturday at the Connolly Center Saturday afternoon. With the win, Seattle U improves to 4-6 on the season, while Montana State drops to 4-3 with the loss.
The Redhawks shot 49 percent from the field, 29 percent from three-point range and 72 percent from the free throw line on the game. The Bobcats connected on 36 percent from the floor, 13 percent from beyond the arc and 61 percent from the line. Seattle U out-rebounded Montana State 42-35.
Kacie Sowell posted a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds to go along with two blocks, while Ashley Ward and Taelor Ross finished with 14 points each. Ward also had four assists and three steals.
Santa Clara 64, at Utah Valley 61
Katie Kuklok's last-second three-pointer rimmed out as the Wolverines opened their four-game homestand with a 64-61 loss to Santa Clara on Saturday afternoon at the PE Building. With the loss, Utah Valley falls to 1-10 on the season. The Broncos improve to 3-6 on the year with the win.
The Wolverines shot 39 percent from the field, 40 percent from three-point range and 77 percent from the free throw on the game. Santa Clara connected on 44 percent from the floor, 29 percent from downtown and 75 percent from the charity stripe. The Broncos out-rebounded Utah Valley 36-31.
Kuklok led all players with 17 points to go along with four steals, while Rebecca MaWhinney added 11 points. Kyra Prause dished out seven assists and nabbed four steals.
Eastern Washington 85, Idaho 84
The Eagles hit a jumper with two seconds remaining to defeat Idaho 85-84 at Reese Court Saturday night. With the loss, the Vandals fall to 7-5 on the year. Eastern Washington improves to 2-5 on the year with the win.
Idaho shot 47 percent from the field, 37 percent from three-point range and 83 percent from the free throw line on the game. EWU connected on 52 percent from the floor, 48 percent from beyond the arc and 64 percent from the free throw line. The Eagles edged the Vandals on the boards, 36-34.
Alyssa Charlston led all players with 32 points, while Stacey Barr added 19 points. Ali Forde grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.
