Bakersfield 81, Houston Baptist 61
The Roadrunners remained unbeaten at home with an 81-61 win over Houston Baptist at the Icardo Center Thursday. With the win, Bakersfield improves to 4-6 on the season. The Huskies fall to 3-6 on the year with the loss.
The Roadrunners shot 43 percent from the field, 35 percent from three-point range and 94 percent from the free throw line on the game. HBU connected on 39 percent from the floor, 18 percent from downtown and 50 percent from the charity stripe. The Huskies edged Bakersfield on the boards, 43-41.
Tyonna Outfield became the eighth Bakersfield player to score at least 1,000 points at the 5:32 mark of the first half and finished the night with a game-high 28 points, one off of her career high. Melissa Sweat added 15 points, Brooklynn Hinkens had 13 and Alyssa Shannon finished with 11 points, eight assists and four steals. Batabe Zempare grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds.
Seattle U 72, Loyola Marymount 70
The Redhawks won their second straight game, defeating Loyola Marymount 72-70 at Gersten Pavilion Thursday. With the victory, Seattle U improves to 5-6 on the season. The Lions fall to 3-8 with the loss.
The Redhawks shot 49 percent from the field, 46 percent from three-point range and 75 percent from the free throw line on the game. LMU connected on 43 percent from the floor, 41 percent from beyond the arc and 76 percent from the line. The Lions won the rebounding battle, 38-28.
Alexis Montgomery led Seattle U with 14 points, six rebounds and six assists, while Ashley Ward finished with 12 points and six assists, while Taelor Ross added 10 points and Kaylee Best nabbed six steals.
