Utah Valley 59, Idaho State 56
The Wolverines scored the game's final five points to overcome a late deficit and top Idaho State 59-56 at the UCCU Center Friday afternoon, snapping a nine-game losing skid. With the win, Utah Valley improves to 2-10 on the season. The Bengals drop to 2-7 on the year with the loss.
The Wolverines shot 40 percent from the field, 17 percent from three-point range and 86 percent from the free throw line on the game. Idaho State connected on 31 percent from the floor, 27 percent from downtown and 73 percent from the charity stripe. The Bengals edged UVU on the boards, 38-35.
Rhaiah Spooner-Knight led all scorers with 21 points, including 17 in the first half, to go along with a team-best seven rebounds and four steals. Katie Kuklok added 13 points.
Chicago State 55, at Southern Illinois 51
The Cougars snapped an eight-game losing streak with a 55-51 win at Southern Illinois Friday evening. With the win, Chicago State moves to 2-8 on the season. The Salukis fall to 2-7 on the year with the loss.
The Cougars shot 41 percent from the field, 33 percent from three-point range and 54 percent from the free throw line on the game. SIU connected on 30 percent from the floor, 25 percent from beyond the arc and 68 percent from the line. The Salukis out-rebounded Chicago State 43-35.
Jasmine Sanders led the Cougars with 14 points, while Tierra Williams added 12 and Chanel Wilson-Stewart had 11. Layne Murphy grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.
