New Mexico State 97, Northern New Mexico 47

LAS CRUCES, N.M. –(NMSU Media Relations The New Mexico State men’s basketball team used a big night from 3-point range to defeat Northern New Mexico in convincing fashion, 97-47, Saturday night inside the Pan American Center. The Aggies pick up their 10th win of the season and are now 10-5 while the Eagles fall to 10-7.

NM State shot 58.3 percent (14-of-24) from beyond the arc on Saturday, including shooting 76.9 from 3-point land in the first half. The Aggies finished with a total shooting percentage of 64.7 (33-of-51) while holding Northern New Mexico to 27.1 (19-70).

“We played some very unselfish basketball and we executed pretty well,” said head coach Marvin Menzies. “It is great to see our team continue to develop. We have to continue to move forward.”

UT Arlington 79, Bakersfield 75 (OT)

Arlington, Texas-(CSUB Media Relations) After erasing an 11-point deficit in the second half to take the lead late, the Bakersfield Roadrunners (6-7) dropped their second overtime game of the season Saturday afternoon 79-75 at the College Park Center to UT Arlington.

The Mavericks (5-7) used a 6-0 run over a three-minute span in overtime to build a six-point lead. Bakersfield would cut that deficit to three with 19 seconds left and again to two with just five seconds remaining but two free throws from UT Arlington were enough to hand Bakersfield their sixth road loss of the season.

Wright State 61, Kansas City 49

Dayton, Ohio -(UMKC Media Relations) The Kansas City men's basketball squad ran into a tough defensive team in Wright State on Saturday, and was held to its lowest point total of the season in a 61-49 road loss.

“I thought we defended well in the second half, but we had too many peaks and valleys on the offensive end,” Head Coach Kareem Richardson said. “We have to play desperately like we did in the second half all the time.”

The ‘Roos (3-8) struggled early in the contest with turnovers, and the Raiders (7-7) took advantage, jumping to a 24-14 lead in the first 12:40. WSU scored 11 points off 10 Kangaroo turnovers to that point. Kansas City settled down from there, making only one miscue the rest of the half, but it could only get the margin down to six.
