The Kangaroos fell 80-74 to Western Illinois at the Swinney Recreation Center Sunday afternoon. With the loss, Kansas City drops to 4-9 on the season. The Westerwinds improve to 6-7 with the win.
The 'Roos shot 43 percent from the field, 35 percent from three-point range and 89 percent from the free throw line on the game. WIU connected on 44 percent from the floor, 32 percent from beyond the arc and 52 percent from the charity stripe on the game. Kansas City won the rebounding battle, 46-32, but committed 25 turnovers in the loss.
Eilise O'Connor and Kim Nezianya led a group of five 'Roos in double-digit scoring with 18 points apiece. O'Connor also pulled down 12 boards for her second double-double of the year. Nezianya narrowly missed doubling up, adding nine rebounds. Calli White finished with 13 points, while Taylor Leathers and Grace Mitchell scored 10 each, with Mitchell grabbing 12 boards for her first double-double of the season.
Oklahoma State 90, Texas-Pan American 48
The Broncs fell 90-48 to No. 13 Oklahoma State Sunday afternoon at Gallagher-Iba Arena. With the loss, Texas-Pan American falls to 6-7 on the season. The Cowgirls remained undefeated at 11-0 with the victory.
UTPA shot 23 percent from the field, 25 percent from three-point range and 54 percent from the free throw line on the game. Oklahoma State connected on 48 percent from the floor, 29 percent from downtown and 71 percent from the line. The Cowgirls dominated the boards, 63-31.
Shawnte' Goff led the Broncs with 11 points and five rebounds, while Alexandria Hill added eight points.
Wright State 84, Chicago State 62
The Cougars fell 84-62 to Wright State Sunday at the Jones Convocation Center. With the loss, Chicago State drops to 2-9 on the season. The Raiders improve to 11-3 on the year with the victory.
The Cougars shot 47 percent from the field, 50 percent from three-point range and 53 percent from the free throw line on the game. Wright State connected on 42 percent from the floor, 26 percent from beyond arc and 71 percent from the charity stripe. The Raiders edged Chicago State on the boards, 43-37, and capitalized on 28 Cougar turnovers.
Tierra Williams led Chicago State with 21 points, while Paris Williams added 17 points and seven rebounds. Cailin Nix scored 11 points and grabbed seven boards.
UTSA 65, New Mexico State 56
The Aggies closed out the UTSA Holiday Classic with a 65-56 loss to the host Roadrunners Sunday afternoon at the Convocation Center. New Mexico State falls to 3-10 on the season with the loss. UTSA improves to 8-4 with the win.
The Aggies shot 34 percent from the field, 24 percent from three-point range and 68 percent from the free throw line on the game. UTSA connected on 37 percent from the floor, 27 percent from downtown and 74 percent from the line. The Roadrunners edged NM State on the boards, 41-37.
Danesia Williamson paced the Aggies with 22 points, while Sasha Weber added 17. Brianna Freeman pulled down a team-best nine rebounds.
