UC Santa Barbara 86, Seattle U 70

SEATTLE-(SU Media Relations) The Seattle University men’s basketball team endured a rough shooting night, and UC Santa Barbara took advantage both from the field and at the free throw line as the Gauchos defeated the Redhawks, 86-70, Monday night at KeyArena at Seattle Center in Seattle U’s final non-conference game of the season.

After Jarell Flora (Bremerton, Wash.) hit a three-pointer to open the scoring, UC Santa Barbara scored seven unanswered points, capped by a three-pointer by Michael Bryson, to take the early lead. While the Redhawks struggled to make a field goal, the Gauchos went on a 19-2 scoring run over a seven-minute span to extend their lead to 28-10.

Middle Tennessee 79, Grand Canyon 56

Chattanooga, Tenn.-(GCU Media Relations) Hampered by their lowest field goal percentage of the season, the Grand Canyon University men's basketball team (5-8) dropped a 79-56 contest to Middle Tennessee State (9-5) today in the consolation game of the 24th Annual Dr. Pepper Classic at The McKenzie Arena on the campus of Tennessee-Chattanooga. The loss was the fifth straight for the Antelopes who concluded the non-conference portion of their schedule.

GCU shot just 31.0 percent from the field (13-for-42), while the Blue Raiders went 31-for-64 (48.4 percent). The 13 field goals made also marked a season-low for the 'Lopes. MT was also able to take advantage of 13 GCU turnovers, scoring 24 points off of those opportunities.
