Texas-Pan American 76, Houston Baptist 74
The Broncs rallied back from a 25-point deficit to beat Houston Baptist 76-74 Tuesday at Sharp Gym. With the win, Texas-Pan American is 5-2, matching its best start since 2003-04. The Huskies drop to 3-4 on the season with the loss.
The Broncs shot 36 percent from the field, 32 percent from three-point range and 63 percent from the free throw line. Houston Baptist connected on 58 percent from the floor, 47 percent from three-point range and 64 percent from the charity stripe on the game. The Huskies edged UTPA on the boards, 37-36, but committed 27 turnovers in the loss.
A season-high five Broncs reached double-figures in scoring, led by Brittany Bush, who scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for her second-straight double-double. Jasmine Thompson scored a season-high 15 points with five rebounds and a career-high tying three steals. Shawnte' Goff also scored 15 points, doing so with four assists. KaeLynn Boyd scored 12 points with three rebounds and four assists. Tonisha Walker finished with 11 points.
Idaho 67, Carroll College 39
The Vandals ran past Carroll College 67-39 at Memorial Gym Tuesday. With the win, Idaho improves to 5-3 on the season. The Fighting Saints drop to 5-4 on the season with the loss.
The Vandals shot 44 percent from the field, 29 percent from three-point range and 79 percent from the free throw line on the game. Carroll shot 25 percent from the floor, 20 percent from beyond the arc and 50 percent from the line. Idaho out-rebounded the Fighting Saints 43-36.
Stacey Barr led all players with 20 points, while Ali Forde added nine. Alyssa Charlston grabbed a game-high 10 boards.
UTEP 80, New Mexico State 61
The Aggies fell 80-61 to UTEP Tuesday night at the Pan American Center. New Mexico State drops to 3-5 on the season with the loss, while the Miners remain undefeated at 7-0.
The Aggies shot 38 percent from the field, 41 percent from three-point range and 80 percent from the free throw line on the game. UTEP connected on 43 percent from the floor, 15 percent from downtown and 77 percent from the charity stripe. The Miners won the rebounding battle, 39-34, and forced 24 NM State turnovers.
Brianna Freeman led the Aggies with 12 points, while Moriah Mack added nine points and a team-high seven boards.
UC Riverside 85, Bakersfield 66
The Roadrunners were outscored by 18 points in the first half en route to an 85-66 loss to UC Riverside at SRC Arena Tuesday. With the loss, Bakersfield drops to 2-4 on the season. The Highlanders improve to 4-3 on the season with the win.
The Roadrunners shot 28 percent from the field, 26 percent from three-point range and 82 percent from the free throw line on the game. UC Riverside connected on 58 percent from the floor, 46 percent from beyond the arc and 50 percent from the line. Bakersfield edged the Highlanders on the boards, 41-39.
Tyonna Outland led all players with 22 points, while Melissa Sweat added 10. Batabe Zempare and Dajy Vines grabbed eight rebounds apiece.
