This is the fourth installment of WAC SAAC Gives Back, which highlights the community service efforts and activities of the Student-Athlete Advisory Councils at each of the nine WAC schools.
Among the initiatives the Kansas City SAAC has been involved in this fall are:
Center Middle School Celebrity Reading Day: Annual event where student-athletes read to sixth grade students and discuss with them the benefits of attending college. Many of the sixth grade students would be potential first generation college students.
Morning Glory Café: Serving food to homeless population in downtown Kansas City.
Boy Scout Night: Serve pizza to 3,000 area Boy Scouts.
Move In Day: Annual event on campus where student-athletes assist in moving incoming freshman into the UMKC dorms.
