Montana 59, Idaho 56
Montana hit a three-pointer with 16 seconds remaining to defeat Idaho 59-56 in its own Lady Griz Classic Friday at Dahlberg Arena. With the loss, the Vandals fall to 5-4. Montana improves to 5-1 with the win.
Idaho shot 36 percent from the field, 20 percent from three-point range and 89 percent from the free throw line on the game. Montana connected on 36 percent from the floor, 35 percent from beyond the arc and 83 percent from the charity stripe. The Vandals edged the Lady Griz 42-41 on the boards.
Ali Forde led Idaho with 13 points, while Alyssa Charlston added 12 points and nine rebounds. Connie Ballestero had 10 points and four assists, while Christina Salvatore tallied nine points and eight boards.
Valparaiso 74, Chicago State 50
The Cougars fell 74-50 to Valparaiso Friday afternoon at Savage Arena as part of the Toledo Invite. With the loss, Chicago State drops to 1-7 on the season. The Crusaders pick up their first win of the season to improve to 1-7 on the year with the victory.
The Cougars shot 30 percent from the field, 25 percent from three-point range and 50 percent from the free throw line on the game. Valpo connected on 43 percent from the floor, 14 percent from downtown and 82 percent from the line. The Crusaders won the rebounding battle, 47-42, and forced 20 Chicago State turnovers.
Paris Williams led all players with 17 points to go along with 10 rebounds and four steals for her second double-double of the season. Tierra Williams added 16 points, while Jasmine Sanders dished out five assists.
