DENVER (3-2, 0-0)
The University of Denver women's tennis team defeated to Colorado Friday, 4-3 ... the Pioneers battled Colorado in all three doubles matches but Colorado won two of three to take the 1-0 lead before starting singles play ... Sophia Bergner defeated Colorado's Julyette Steur 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (5) in No. 1 singles ... Caroline Schnell beat Dhany Quevedo 5-7, 7-1, 7-5 in No. 2 singles ... Emma Isberg claimed a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Winde Janssens and Steffi Rath defeated Ashley Tiefel 6-2, 6-4 ... Denver's next match is Friday, Feb. 22 when they host New Mexico.


IDAHO (1-5, 0-0)
The Idaho women's tennis team split a pair of matches against in-state foes Idaho State and Boise State over the weekend, as the Vandals beat ISU 7-0 before losing to BSU by the same score ... in Idaho's match against Idaho State, the Vandals got 8-3 wins from Victoria Lozano and Almudena Sanz at No. 1 doubles and Constance Alexander and Belen Barcenilla at No. 2 doubles ... In singles play Idaho swept through with straight-set wins at all six positions ... Idaho moves to 1-5 on the season with the weekend split ... the Vandals will return to action on Feb. 15 when it faces Nevada in Pullman, Wash.

LOUISIANA TECH (1-1, 0-0)
Due to inclement weather, the Sunday tennis match between Louisiana Tech and Northwestern State was postponed ... the Lady Techsters were set to take on the in-state foe in their first road match of the spring season ... a rescheduled date is not yet known at this time ... next up for LA Tech tennis is a showdown with Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches, Texas at 1 p.m. on Feb. 17.

NEW MEXICO STATE (1-1, 0-0)
The NM State women's tennis team went 1-2 in the opening weekend of the 2013 spring season ... the Aggies fell 7-0 to host UNLV on Saturday morning before coming back for a 5-2 win over Weber State later in the day ... NM State struggled to keep the momentum of the win as the team fell 5-2 to Pacific on Sunday afternoon ... the Aggies take a week off before heading to the West Coast for three days of dual competition ... NM State faces Cal State Fullerton on Feb. 22, and then continues on a California route against UC Irvine and Cal State Northridge.

SAN JOSE STATE (5-2, 0-0)
San Jose State University's number-one singles player Klaudia Boczova won a three-set tiebreaker, 7-1, as the Spartans defeated Santa Clara University, 4-3, in a non-conference women's tennis match ... Boczova, defeated Katie Le, 2-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7-1 tiebreaker) ...  Le came into the match ranked 26th nationally in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) singles rankings ... the win gave San Jose State its first women's tennis victory over Santa Clara in 15 matches dating back to 1998 ... Julianna Bacelar posted a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 win over Santa Clara's Maggie McGeorge in No. 5 singles to pull the match even at 3-3 with only Boczova and Le left on the DeGheri Tennis Center courts.

SEATTLE U (2-3, 0-0) 
Lindsey Newman leads the team with a 3-2 singles record in dual matches ... her wins have come against opponents from Portland State, Idaho State and Weber State ... when taking fall invites into account, Sarah Lucas has the best singles record in 2012-13 going 7-6 when playing solo ... Newman and Lucas have also teamed up for a 3-2 doubles record in dual play ... Corrine Wurden and Kristen James are also 3-2 in dual matches ... the Redhawks next play at Lewis-Clark State Feb. 15 and at Gonzaga Feb. 16 ... their first home match of the season will come a week later with a Feb. 26 showdown versus Eastern Washington.  

TEXAS STATE (2-1, 0-0)
The Texas State women's tennis team suffered its first loss of the season when the Bobcats dropped a 6-1 decision against Houston ... the Bobcats fell behind 1-0 in doubles play after suffering a doubles loss for the first time this season with setbacks in the No. 1 and No. 3 matches ... Texas State looked to get back into contention in singles play when Bérénice Van den Bergh won her No. 6 match against Dionne Sanders by a score of 6-4, 6-3 ... Texas State will look to win its third match of the season next Friday, Feb. 15, when the Bobcats play host to UTSA ... Texas State also plays host to Northwestern State on Saturday. 

UT ARLINGTON (0-2, 0-0)
The UT Arlington women's tennis team lost 7-0 to No. 32 Rice Saturday in Houston ... the Mavericks fell to 0-2 overall, with one loss at home and one on the road ... Rice's No. 56 doubles duo, Natalie Beazant and Dominique Harmath, defeated Brook Dennis and Elizabeth Thoms in a quick 8-1 to begin the match ... Dennis put up a tough fight with No. 50 Natalie Beazant, but the Rice sophomore took the match 6-1, 7-5 ... Giada D'ortona was the last chance to grab a point for the Mavericks as she pushed her opponent to a tie-breaker, but Kimberly Anicete won 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-3) ... the Mavericks are back on the courts Sunday, Feb. 17 as they take on Air Force.

UTSA (2-1, 0-0)
UTSA lost its only match of the week, a 4-3 setback to Houston ... the Roadrunners were scheduled to play St. Edward's last Saturday, but the match was canceled due to rain ... junior Isabelle Jonsson and freshman Jacobea Junger continued their strong starts to the spring, both running the records to 3-0 in the singles action. 
 
UTAH STATE (1-1, 0-0)
Utah State women's tennis lost its first match of the 2013 season Saturday as it fell at BYU, 6-1. With the loss, USU is now 1-1 on the season ... McKenzie Davis was the only Aggie to win a match against the Cougars as she posted a three-set win at No. 1 singles against Morgan Anderson (7-5, 3-6, 6-1) ... in doubles play, Davis and Jaci West fell to Sheehan-Dizon and Nicolette Tran at the first position, 8-7 (4) ... Utah State's women will return to action on Friday, February 15 when it hosts Boise State.
