Utah State 73, New Mexico State 69


LOGAN, Utah -(USU Media Relations) Junior center Jarred Shaw scored 24 points and junior guard/forward Spencer Butterfield added 17 in leading Utah State men's basketball to a 73-69 Western Athletic Conference home win against New Mexico State in a nationally televised game on ESPNU in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum late Saturday night.

Utah State, who has won four of its last five games, improves to 18-6 on the season and 9-5 in WAC play. New Mexico State, who is now 18-9 overall and 12-3 in league play, had its 12-game winning streak snapped with the loss. Saturday's win evened the season-series, as NMSU beat USU, 64-51, at Las Cruces on Jan. 17, halting USU's 13-game winning streak.

Denver 62, San Jose State 41



SAN JOSE, Calif.
-(DU Media Relations) University of Denver men's basketball junior Chris Udofia (Irving, Texas) scored his 1,000th career point - part of a 13-points, five-rebound, five-assist, five-steal performance - to lead the Pioneers to a 62-41 victory over San Jose State at Event Center on Saturday night.

Senior Chase Hallam (Mesquite, Texas) had 13 points for the Pioneers (17-8, 13-2 WAC), and sophomore Royce O'Neale (Killeen, Texas) added 11 points, six rebounds and four assists.

UTSA 73, Texas State 62

—(UTSA Media Relations) Kannon Burrage led a balanced scoring attack with 15 points and UTSA built a big lead and then held off Texas State, 73-62, on Saturday afternoon in Western Athletic Conference (WAC) play at Strahan Coliseum.

Michael Hale III and Jeromie Hill scored 13 apiece, while Jordan Sims and Edrico McGregor added 12 and 10, respectively, to help the Roadrunners (6-19, 2-12 WAC) earn the regular season series split with their I-35 rivals.

Louisiana Tech 67, Idaho 61



Moscow, IDAHO -(LT Media Relations) Raheem Appleby poured in 28 points to carry Louisiana Tech to their program record-tying 15th straight win, a 67-61 win over Idaho on Saturday night at the Cowan Spectrum.

LA Tech (23-3, 14-0 WAC) also remained undefeated in conference play after grabbing their eighth straight road victory which breaks a program record.

The Bulldogs opened the contest with four turnovers on their first four offensive possessions and allowed Idaho (9-16, 5-10 WAC) to open with a quick 4-0 lead.

Down 16-9 to the Vandals, the Bulldogs got back-to-back three-pointers from Cordarius Johnson and Raheem Appleby to cut it to within one, but Idaho then went on a 6-0 run to push their lead back out to seven.

UT Arlington 65, Seattle U 63


SEATTLE, Washington
–(UTA Media Relations) Jordan Reves nailed two free throws with 12.5 seconds left, lifting UT Arlington to a 65-63 Western Athletic Conference victory over Seattle U on Saturday night at Key Arena.

The Mavericks ran their winning streak to four in improving to 14-9 and 9-5 in conference. UT Arlington, winners of six of seven, also swept a two-game road trip against teams that beat them last month. The Mavericks won 71-68 at Idaho on Thursday.

"It's a huge win and it was a huge week for us," UT Arlington coach Scott Cross said. "It feels awesome to have a winning streak going."
