NEW ORLEANS, La. - The United States Track & Field
and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the teams and
individuals who received the organization's All-Academic Awards on Monday. Four
men's and three women's teams represented the WAC on the All-Academic list.
While two WAC student-athletes received individual honors.
To qualify as a USTFCCCA
All-Academic Cross Country team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA
of 3.00 or better and have started at least five runners at their respective
NCAA regional championship.
The men's list features 145
Division I programs. New Mexico State (3.243), Seattle University (3.46), UT
Arlington (3.4) and University of Idaho (3.19) all garnered recognition for the
fall 2012 quarter. Seattle U's Erik Barkhaus, gained individual recognition on
the list of 67 men honored for having a 3.25 GPA and either having earned
USTFCCCA All-American status or finished in the NCAA region's top 15 (or top 10
percent) in 2012.
On the women's side, New Mexico
State (3.357), Seattle University (3.585) and University of Idaho (3.53)
appeared on a list of 199 Division I schools to earn the women's All-Academic
team honors. NM State's Courtney Schultz joined the list of 115 women to earn
the individual recognition.
