DENVER - The
U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has
announced the 288 men and 266 women who have earned USTFCCCA All-America honors
for the 2013 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field season based on their
performances at the Indoor Track & Field Championships.
The Western Athletic Conference
had four men and one woman score and a total of seven participate at the
championships.
UT Arlington led the way with
three All-Americans.
Bozidar
Antunovic (first team),
Romain Martin (first team)
and
Clayton
Vaughn (second team) give the Mavericks their most
individual recipients in an indoor season ever. Antunovic placed fifth in
the shot put at the NCAA Championships with a throw of 63-05 to claim his first
indoor All-America accolade. Martin's eighth-place showing in the
heptathlon (5,772 points) made him a three-time indoor first-team
All-American. Vaughn placed ninth in the 60-meter dash with a clocking of
6.66, missing the final heat by just .01.
Louisiana Tech's
Trey
Hadnot earned
first-team All-American status, breaking his own school record of 20.81 with a
time of 20.48 in the 200m dash. Hadnot finished third on the podium, giving him
his first medal in three attempts at the national meet. Texas State pole
vaulter
Logan Cunningham reached
All-America status for the third time in his career with an 11
th place-finish.
Cunningham cleared a distance of 5.40m (17-08.5), earning him second team
honors.
Idaho's
Hannah
Kiser, the lone women's representative from the WAC, received
first team All-American honors in the 3,000m. Kiser, placed fifth with a time
of 9:07.72.
