Southern Miss 63, Louisiana Tech 52

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - (LT Media Relations) As the final seconds ticked off the clock Wednesday night, Louisiana Tech saw its historic season come to an end with a 63-52 loss to Southern Mississippi before 5,952 fans at Reed Green Coliseum.

It was a year that saw the Bulldogs win 27 games, earn the program's first Top 25 ranking in more than 25 years and claim a share of the Western Athletic Conference title.

Maryland 72, Denver 62
COLLEGE PARK, Md. – (DU Media Relations) University of Denver junior Chris Udofia (Irving, Texas) recorded 24 points and six rebounds, but the No. 3-seeded Pioneers fell 62-52 to No. 2-seeded Maryland in the second round of the National Invitation Tournament at Comcast Center on Thursday night.

With the loss, the Pioneers (22-10) were eliminated from the NIT, while the Terrapins (24-12) advance to the quarterfinals to take on the winner of Alabama and Stanford.

Saint Louis 64, New Mexico State 44
SAN JOSE, Calif.-(NMSU Media Relations) The five-game winning streak and season came to end for the New Mexico State men's basketball team in an NCAA Tournament second-round game. Atlantic-10 champion and No. 4 seeded Saint Louis proved too much for the WAC Tournament champion and No. 13 seed Aggies, who were saddled with a 64-44 defeat in the Midwest Region contest.

Oral Roberts 84, UT Arlington 76
ARLINGTON, Texas –(UTA Media Relations) UT Arlington's second consecutive postseason berth ended in the first round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament with a 84-76 loss to Oral Roberts before 1,627 fans at College Park Center.

The Mavericks finished the season at 19-14, good for the fifth-most wins in program history. UT Arlington competed in back-to-back postseasons for the first time and the fourth time overall.

Louisiana Tech 71, Florida State 66
TALLAHASSEE, Florida -(LT Media Relations) After shooting only 26 percent from the field in the first half, the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs scorched the nets and the Florida State Seminoles defense over the final 20 minutes in a 71-66 win at the Donald L. Tucker Center Tuesday night.

With the win, LA Tech (27-6) advances to play the winner of Southern Miss and Charleston Southern in a game that will be played Wednesday night in Hattiesburg. The victory was the program's first in the NIT since defeating Vanderbilt in the second round in 2002 in Ruston.

Denver 61, Ohio 57
DENVER - (DU Media Relations) University of Denver sophomore guard Cam Griffin (San Antonio, Texas) recorded his first career double-double with 14 points on 5-of-5 shooting and 10 rebounds, as the Pioneers defeated Ohio 61-57 on Tuesday evening in a tight contest in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament at Magness Arena.

The win was DU's first-ever in the postseason, and the Pioneers (22-9) advance to take on Maryland in the NIT Second Round in College Park, Md., on Thursday at 5 p.m. MT.

Connecticut 105, Idaho 37

Top-seeded UConn jumped out to a 15-0 lead and never looked back, defeating No. 16-seed Idaho (16-15) 105-37 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Saturday. Stacey Barr led the Vandals with 14 points.

Saint Mary's 68, Seattle U 51

Seattle University (20-11) made its first appearance in the WNIT as the WAC's automatic qualifier to the tournament, but the Redhawks were not able to overcome an early deficit as Saint Mary’s (21-10) came away with the first round win, 68-51.

Sylvia Shephard led the Redhawks with 20 points and five steals, and Kacie Sowell recorded her 17th double-double of the season with 10 points and 13 rebounds.

South Dakota 77, Utah State 68
Utah State could not overcome a 9-0 South Dakota run in the second half as well as 33 points by USD's Nicole Seekamp, as the Aggies lost to the Coyotes, 77-69, Thursday night in the first round of the Women's Basketball Invitational at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.

USU ends its first season under head coach Jerry Finkbeiner with an 18-14 record, as Thursday's loss snapped the Aggies' 10-game home winning streak, the longest in school history.

Jennifer Schlott netted a team-high 25 points, tallying 18 in the second half, as well as dishing out eight assists, one shy of her career-high. Devyn Christensen tallied 16 points, while Jenna Johnson added eight points to go with 13 rebounds, two points shy of her 10th double-double of the season and 11th of her career. Johnson also had a career-high five blocked shots.
