WAC Men' Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week Announced

DENVER – UT Arlington’s Quentin Butler and Texas State’s Darian Brown were named the Western Athletic Conference Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for the week of April 1-7.

Butler, a sophomore from Corpus Christi, Texas (West Oso H.S.), posted the fastest 200m time in the WAC this year (20.99) at the Texas State Invitational in a fourth-place finish. His time ranked sited for 21st nationally and 10th in the West Regional Qualifying. Butler also helped the 4x400 relay team to a winning time of 3:15.02 and helped the 4x100 relay team to a third-place time of 41.34. Butler also competed in the long jump, recording the second-best jump of the season in the WAC with a distance of 7.41m (24.3-75).

Brown, a sophomore from Killeen, Texas (Ellison H.S.) was first among college athletes and second overall with a shot put distance of 18.20m at the Texas State Invitational. His throw ranks first in the WAC this season. Brown also competed in the hammer throw, recoding a winning distance of 55.68m (182-8.00). Brown ranks second best in the conference this season in the hammer throw. 
  
Other track nominees included: Idaho senior Barry Britt, Louisiana Tech sophomore Paul Sakit, Seattle U sophomore Collin Overbay, Texas State freshman Tyrone Jackson and Utah State sophomore Nic Bowens.

Other field nominees included: Idaho sophomore Matt Sullivan, Seattle U redshirt junior Dylan Burnett, UT Arlington freshman Roland Sales and Utah State junior Bryce Hall.
