WAC TEAM-BY-TEAM NOTES

Idaho Vandals 
The Vandals will be at full force Saturday as they compete at the WAR VI regional dual ... the meet hosted by Spokane Falls CC pits Washington schools against those from Montana, Idaho and Oregon ... Idaho won 11 individual crowns last year at the meet ... the first outdoor school record of the season fell when sophomore Matt Sullivan leaped to 17-5 (5.31m) Saturday at the Sun Angel Classic ... the Vandals made two Idaho top-10 all time entries at the meet and improved three of their previous top-10 marks ... the Vandal women finished the meet in second place while the men finished in third.

Louisiana Tech Bulldogs
Louisiana Tech’s track and field program registered 15 finishes in the top three with four event winners at the Stephen F. Austin Invitational ... high jumper Pamela Lee tied a personal record with a mark of 5-8.75 (1.75m) as she won the women’s high jump competition ... her mark ranks second in school history and less than two inches off the top mark ... Niko Richey ran a pair of personal best times as he placed third in the 100m with a time of 10.59 and ran 21.05 in the 200m to finish second ... Paul Sakit notched a pair of third-place finishes as he ran a personal record 1:53.76 in the 800m and ran 3:53.96 in the 1,500m ... LA Tech is off until April 19-20.

New Mexico State Aggies
The New Mexico State University track and field team concluded the Don Kirby Tailwind Invitational with first overall finishes in two relay events and the 400m ... NM State took the team titles in both the 4x100m relay and the 4x400m relay ... LaSasha Aldredge won first place with a time of 52.59, setting a new all-time school record, which also sits as first in the WAC ... Aldredge also placed second overall in the 200m with a time of 23.57, moving her up to second all-time and ranking first in the conference for this event as well ... in the javelin, Kelsey Brennan threw a mark of 140’07” (42.84m) to claim second overall in the event ... the Aggies will travel again to El Paso, Texas, next weekend for the UTEP Invitational on Saturday, April 13.

Seattle University Redhawks
The Seattle University track and field team combined for five event victories and one school record at the Willamette Invitational ... Zach Stanfield was part of three of the Seattle U event wins, the first coming as the second leg of the 4x100 meter relay team, also including Zachary Schlachter, Eric Patterson-Floyd, and Austin Thummel-Gravitt, that won in 41.91 seconds ... Stanfield would later win the 100m dash in 10.77 seconds and the 200m dash in 21.51 seconds ... the school record would come in the men’s 1500m, as Collin Overbay finished fifth during the top section portion of the event with a time of 3:51.84 ... Katie Tougas won her heat of the 100m dash, finishing eighth overall with a time of 12.57 seconds ... the Seattle University track and field team will head to Spokane, Wash., next weekend for WAR VI.

University of Texas at Arlington Mavericks 
The UT Arlington men’s and women’s track and field teams had a number of standout performances Saturday at the Texas State Invitational ... DeAndrea Smith set a school record in the 400 meters by running a 54.05 to place third ... Morgan Domingue was another woman who made a huge mark in the team’s fourth meet of the year ... she was the second-place finisher in the long jump with a career-best effort of 6.08m (19-11) ... Quentin Butler’s day proved to be among the highlights for the men’s squad ... he placed fourth in the 200 meters with a personal-best time of 20.99 and also was the runner-up in the long jump with a personal-best leap of 24-05 ... UTA is next in action April 17-20 at the Mt. SAC Relays (Walnut, Calif.) and the Beach Invitational (Long Beach, Calif.).

UTSA Roadrunners
The Roadrunners did not compete last weekend ... Roscoe Robinson led UTSA with a school-record measurement of 25-9 1/4 (7.85m) in the long jump … just the fourth athlete in program history to break the 25-foot barrier, he now leads the WAC standings and is fourth on the national leaderboard … two other Roadrunners currently reside atop the league leaderboard (Christopher Hall, 400m/Kerry Thompson, high jump) … UTSA’s women recorded six victories and posted a combined total of 21 podium finishes at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays and Trinity Tigers Relays … Alyssa Diaz currently leads the WAC in the 10,000 meters … the Roadrunners have captured nine gold medals this spring ... UTSA will be back in action on at the Texas Invitational in Austin.

Texas State Bobcats
Texas State finished with 13 first-place finishes and many more with top performances at the Texas State Invitational ... Tyrone Jackson took the men’s 800m with a first place time and personal record of 1:49.72, also placing him second in the WAC ... Danielle Candelaria did one better with a WAC-leading performance ... she won the high jump with a jump of 1.74 meters, putting in her in a first place tie for the highest jump in the WAC ... Darian Brown finished second overall and first among collegiate athletes with a shot put of 18.20m, the longest distance in the WAC ... Texas State will be back in action at the Texas Invitational.

Utah State Aggies
Utah State’s men and women’s track & field teams will travel to Sacramento, Calif., to compete in Sacramento State’s Mondo Mid-Major Challenge at Hornet Stadium on Thursday through Saturday, April 11-13 ... the multi-events will conclude on Friday ... field events will begin at 4:30 p.m. Friday, while the running events will start at 8 p.m. ... despite adverse weather that featured rainy and wet conditions, the Utah State’s men and women’s track and field teams won four event titles as part of 25 top-six finishes at the Boise State hosted All-Idaho Cup.

WAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2013 WAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships travels to Arlington, Texas. This year’s championships will be hosted UT Arlington and will take place at Maverick Stadium beginning Mar. 8 and running through Mar. 11. The Idaho men and Utah State women claimed the championships last year.
