Sacramento State 3, Texas State 2


SACRAMENTO, Calif. — (SAC Media Relations) Sacramento State scored all its runs in the third inning but it proved to be enough in a 3-2 win over Texas State on Friday at John Smith Field. The Hornets moved to 16-13 overall and 3-4 in the Western Athletic Conference. The Bobcats, who entered the game tied for the WAC lead, are now 12-17 overall and 5-2.

Sacramento State jumped on Texas State starter Taylor Black for four hits in the first two innings but could not score. The team broke through in the third with a three-run inning which began with a single from Nathan Lukes. A one-out single by Chris Lewis placed runners on the corners before Rhys Hoskins singled down the right field line to score Lukes. The Bobcats had a chance to get out of the inning on a chopper up the middle by Will Soto but the ball was misplayed allowing two runners to score.

CSU Bakersfield 3, UT Arlington 2


ARLINGTON, Texas—(CSUB Media Relations)  Dylan Christensen’s  (Sr., Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., Saddleback College) RBI single in the top of the eighth plated Cael Brockmeyer (Jr., Vineyard Haven, Mass., Avon Old Farms HS) to give CSU Bakersfield a 3-2 victory over UT Arlington in WAC baseball action Friday night.

Mylz Jones (Fr., Palmdale, Calif., Paraclete HS) extended his Bakersfield (20-10, 5-2 WAC) school record hitting streak to 21 with an RBI single in the top of the first. Brockmeyer also charted an RBI in the first for 2-0 CSUB lead.

New Mexico State 16, Dallas Baptist 5 (7)


LAS CRUCES, N.M. – (NMSU Media Relations) The New Mexico State baseball team defeated Dallas Baptist 16-5 in seven innings at Presley Askew Field, Friday, April 5.  The Aggies are now 17-14 on the year and 3-4 in Western Athletic Conference play, while the Patriots fall to 16-14 on the season and 4-3 in league play.

The Aggies scored 16 runs on 15 hits with senior Bobby Lecount leading the offense going 2-of-3 at the dish with a home run and five RBIs.  Senior shortstop Parker Hipp also had a good night with the bat as he finished the evening going 2-of-4 with a walk, two RBIs and three runs scored.

UTSA 8, Seattle U 1


BELLEVUE, Wash. — (UTSA Media Relations) Brock Hartson allowed one run over seven innings of six-hit ball and UTSA topped Seattle in Friday's Western Athletic Conference (WAC) series opener, 8-1, at Bannerwood Park.

Hartson, who improved to 4-3 on the year with the win, turned the ball over to the bullpen after the seventh, which shut out the Redhawks (10-19, 2-5 WAC) in the final two frames.

Louisiana Tech 6, San Jose State 2


SAN JOSE, Calif. - (LT Media Relations) Louisiana Tech scored multiple runs in both the second and eighth innings to propel the Bulldogs to a 6-2 victory over San Jose State in conference play Friday night at Municipal Stadium in San Jose, Calif.

Tech (12-19, 2-5 WAC) totaled 14 hits on the night, which ties a season-high for the Bulldogs offensively. Five different Bulldog hitters recorded multiple-hit nights in the win over San Jose State (9-21, 3-4 WAC), while seven of Tech's starters had at least one hit on the night.
