DENVER – New Mexico State’s Kenneth Fadke and Texas State’s Krista Puisite were named the Western Athletic Conference Golfers of the Week for April 1-7.
Fadke, a freshman from Hobbs, N.M. (Hobbs HS), tied for fifth place at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational over the weekend in Tempe, Ariz. Fadke shot a 5-under 66 in the final round with three birdies and an eagle to finish at 6-under for the tournament (72-69-66—207). The 66 was a career-low for him and the best by any player in the 100-player field for the third round.
Puisite, a senior from Riga, Latvia (Riga State Gymnasium No. 1), tied for medalist honors at the Challenge at Onion Creek in Austin, Texas. Puisite carded an even-par 210 (68-70-72), the second lowest three-round total in school history. She tied a school record with three individual tournament championships in a single season and holds the career record with five victories. Puisite leads the nation in birdies with 100 on the season.
